You don't have to rp it. Only if you are of the clergy would be required to do so. I mean I do not plan to really post much about Catholicism except when my character occasionally prays or must attend a funeral or wedding in the realm.

Its not required that you rp being a devout christian. But you must be a part of the faith to even be a landed lord in the HRE. Or must be very rich to buy off the local clergy to look the other way.
