Klaus Tower

Located in the village of Klaus on the south shores of Lake Constance, this castle has been home to the von Klaus family for centuries. Although it began as a mere manor house on a hill, it has been greatly expanded by successive generations and now is a rather impressive fortress, more than suitable to defend the surrounding countryside. Currently inhabited by Karl von Klaus and his retainers.

The guard at the gate hastily rushes the party through.

"Enter Duke Boleslau. His Excelleny shall be informed of your visit."

Boleslau begins to enter the gate, then notices Sophia looking shy as always. He approaches her on his steed and gently touches her shoulder.

It is for the future of Bohemia. Besides, I have heard the Duke of Austria is a very powerful and well-mannered man, suitable to be your husband.

Sophia remains silent then smiles at her elder brother and smiles. The two then enter the tower as the entourage remains mounted while the Duke and his sister dismount, waiting for the Duke.

Karl leaves the main building, calmly making his way across the mud of the inner courtyard, almost frozen by the approach of winter. Although bundled up in a series of furs, Karl's face revealing that he still felt the biting cold's sharp tang. He calls out to the Bohemians, yelling loud so that his voice is not whipped away by a gust of wind.

"Hail, Lord Bolesalw and Lady Sophia of Bohemia! Shall we adjourn to more suitable surroundings, as to better conduct our business. The cold is really rather distracting."

Bolelsau then escorts his sister into the main building where it was warmer. He removes his fur coat as well as Sophia's before following the guards to see the Duke of Austria. He knew this was gonna be the greatest meeting for the future of Bohemia since his meeting with Duke Boleslaw I of Poland.

They meet in a large study with a roaring fireplace. Karl promtly plops down in a large, well cushioned armchair and motions for his guests to do that same.

"Welcome, neighbors. Would you care for any refreshments before you inform me of the reason for your visit?"

Boleslau takes his sister to a seat next to him. Sophia delicately sits down in the armchair beside her imposing brother. The Duke of Bohemia takes his seat and takes a watered wine. Sophia takes a glass of water. The Frankish-Bohemian then speaks.

I have come here on a rather...important errands involving the future of Bohemia. Two of great magnitude. The futures of both Bohemia and Austria lie within the answer you give, Duke Karl.

Duke Karl...I ask that you become a vassal of Duchy of Bohemia so that it may become a Kingdom.

Boleslau then let it sink into the Austrian's mind before speaking further.

In return...the Kingdom of Bohemia will have you keep your Duke status and I shall have you married into the royal family. That is why I brought my youngest sister, Sophia here as your suitable bride to be. The only thing I ask in return is that the province of Domazlice be given to the Duchy of Bohemia...seeing as I have de jure claim over the province as it is a part of Bohemia. And in return of Domazlice, I will annex the province of Passau for your Duchy.

As Bolesalw spoke, karl slowly narrowed his eyes and wetted his lips calmly. The offer was... trying. Surrendering to a life of servitude would be unacceptable, but having your brother be your master opened up all kinds of oppurtunities. His children could become even more powerful, with a direct claim on Bohemia itself...

"I accept. On one condition. All territories of de jure Austria that come under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bohemia at any time must be transferred to the Duchy of Austria."

That is a deal. You shall gladly have those territories that are de jure to the Duchy of Austria, Duke Karl...my brother.

Boleslau smiles at his sister, Sophia, who shyly nods to her brother, avoiding the gaze of her future husband. The Duke then looks to Karl.

She may be shy, but she is very smart, Karl. She will make the perfect wife for you.

"I look forward to spending time with her. Perhaps she would accompany me to a grand feast held in honor of out new agreement?"

Galloping was heard approaching Klaus Tower as a mounted entourage of knights with an imposing man and young woman with similar features. The imposing male was the Duke of Bohemia, Boleslau III. The woman was his youngest sister, Sophia z Lotrinske, a beautiful maid of fair skin, blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. Boleslau approaches the gates of Klaus Tower, a knight approaches and speaks up.

The Noble Duke of Bohemia, Boleslau III z Lotrinske, comes to speak with Duke Klaus von Karl of Austria. May the noble Boleslau enter to speak with the esteemed Duke of Austria?
