    Default Italian comitatenses ?

Ave Pompeius Magnus and all the team of AoD2 !

I have a question for you : will you include the possibility of recruiting italian comitatenses/comitatus/limitanei if the byzantine empire regain control of the italian peninsula ?

    But sure my friend :-)

They were however known by the name "Numerus". And we can observe that basically all important cities get their own local Numerus under a local Tribune. The size of those units was probably the same like in the East or known from other contemporary sources regarding other locations of the empire. Therefore we can guess a nominal size between 300 and 500 men.
Historical examples are the Numerus Veronensium, Numerus Tarvisianorum and Numerus Ariminensium, Numerus Mediolanensium and probably 10 more.

The east Roman garrison of Italy was not just consiting of those local Numeri. Of course there were also troops (infantry Numeri) from the east.
Also those troops, (insofar as they were not entirely static) were known as stratiotai - which is a translation of the latin Comitatenses.
