Default Is it OK to be logged into other sites while on financial sites?

In other words, is it OK to be logged into forums, while also logged into paypal, ebay or anywhere else where any financial details might be stored?

I would assume so, since those sites are encrypted.

Keep your virus definitions up to date and keep your firewall on all the time. And don't browse shady sites, chrome usually indicates such websites. These websites might install a trojan or something which can make your computer vulnerable by exposing your entire internet cache or browser history.

Like above has stated have a decent anti virus and a scanner running at all times and maybe some surfing protection if you want to get more serious.

Yep, I pretty much do that now - as well as weekly scans by MSE, Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D. So it's OK to be logged into paypal etc while on forums then? Thanks for your help.

LOL don't use multiple programs man, they eat up a lot of resources. MSE is more than enough imo.
And no that was my point, if you want it to be full proof then you will open those important things in a different browser and clean the cache as soon as you're done with them. But this is my personal viewpoint. A hacker can access this information from your computer via a trojan or phishing attempt, hacking paypal itself is very secure so things are covered on their end but we have to protect our own computer.

Yes. Every webpages in their own tabs are independent. However, if the browser sandbox is broken, websites may be able to install trojans or whatever weird stuff on your computer, and nothing would be safe afterwards.

AV is never 100% effective. Once a virus/trojan gets in and becomes activated, it could easily deceive AV(s) or disable them without you knowing, because it'd be running with exactly the same administrator's privileges as your browser and your AV(s).
