I wanted to ask because I'm not sure: do military minded generals learn something from schools, libraries, universities etc. ?
Īnfrānt nu eşti atunci cānd sāngeri,
nici ochii cānd īn lacrimi ţi-s.
    Adevăratele īnfrāngeri,
    sunt renunţările la vis.

Yes, I believe all characters are able to acquire the education traits regardless of their inclination. However, it makes the most sense to train militarily minded characters in castles and administratively minded characters in cities.

If I've gotten it right, administratively minded generals/family members gain education from schools more easily, meaning that they get the positive traits in fewer turns when staying in a city (the exact amount of turns needed seems to vary slightly). Vice versa, militarily minded generals receive more likely military based traits in castles and on the battlefield.

So it's totally possible to develop administration traits for a militarily minded FL and military ones for administratively minded, it's just easier if he has the right "mind".

Given the fact that characters stop learning from education at some point (at the age of 21 I've heard) it's more likely to attain the highest possible education trait with the right mind/right settlement type combination

Is that age thingy true? I have a 40 something general with the traits "Administratively minded" and "Scholar" and he has gotten Academic advisor and a book called One thousand and one nights + Alcoholic trait since i moved him in my capital and built both school and library, there is also no brothel or inns in my city, in fact i try to keep only few of my cities "shady".

I don't believe so. As far as I can tell, the only traits affected by age are OldMerchant, TooOldToFight, and Senile.

I recall one of my (non-family) generals won a big battle and got offered "hero of the day" and I brought him into my family. He had basic military education at the time. Spent a few years in Nottingham won a couple good rebel battles and then he had advanced military eductaion and he was in his 40s I believe so... never to late to learn
