    Default choosing cpu and gpu

I'm going to be upgrading my computer in a few months, and want to be able to max out shogun 2 and hopefully rome 2 when it comes out. If it's possible, I would like to play whatever comes after rome 2 on high at least without upgrading before then if it's possible. I was wondering which processor and gpu should be good for this. I'm not really interested in overclocking my cpu, because I don't want to void the warranty, and I want it to last as long as it can. If sli works well on total war, then could you suggest which cards if that would be the way to go rather than one card. I read that ivy bridge offers better performance in total war, I don't know if that's true but it would probably be more future proof. Which specific processor is the best. Also, I was wondering if I need to also upgrade my ram to get better fps. I have a gb of 1600 ddr3. Im not on a budget, but I want to keep the price reasonable. If it makes any difference I have a 7200 rpm 64mb cache 500gb hdd. So that is a total war future proof upgrade of the cpu, gpu, and please suggest what motherboard I need to be able to handle these parts.

    thanks

Whenever a new total war game comes out the thing to remember is that it requires top end hardware at that time to be able to run it on max settings across the board. Personally I think the only way you will be able to run Rome II in 2014 will be with the best computer parts available. So if playing Rome II at max settings is your only goal then I suggest waiting until it is actually released or fairly close to when it is released.

Moved from Shogun2 Tech to the basement. Rome2 is not part of Shogun2 discussion.

Well my goal is to max shogun 2 with good fps and hopefully come close in rome 2. They will have similiar requirements so I should come close. What about the core i5 3570K ivy bridge? I know it's not the most expensive, but when it comes to gaming I think it's the best.

Best at this stage to completely list what it is you currently own i.e case/cpu/ram/gpu/psu/monitor/hdds/mobo/cpu heatsink+fan and a total budget. (where u live as well). we might be able to re-use some parts.

22inch screen is in my opinion just about right for ideal gaming pleasure. prefer 24inch myself..

We can then list u some parts. For me a good gaming rig atm needs a quad minimum cpu you can overclock to around 4.5ghz and is not AMD

I don't have any parts right now. I will be getting about $600 to spend in a few weeks, and about $1000 in a few months. I want to either put together a pc capable of playing empire with the $600, then upgrade it when I get the $1000, or buy some parts with the $600 and see if I can get the rest of the parts one at a time. I don't want to spend any more than I have to, so I'm thinking Ill buy the cpu, gpu, and psu with the $600, then grab the rest of the parts one at a time at a local computer shop, or whenever I get like $50. I'm thinking the i5 3570k, since I heard shogun really benifits from ivybridge. I just dont know what gpu I need. Im thinking like a 560 ti and I can always add another one later. Im thinking rosewill future case, corsair 650w 80 plus psu, and 8 gb ddr3 ram. Dont know about a monitor. Do bigger ones slow down fps?

wait save up till you get $1600 then for about $1000-1100 you can build a full PC and actually get somewhere, Dont be an idiot and buy parts now 9/10 they will drop in price by the time you do purchase, or could be found in a combo deal on say newegg for $20 off etc, save the money then build, be rash just ends up pissing money away, Take it from a tech junkie like me. be patient read reviews double check everything then make a purchase.
