Default A few questions and suggestions about SS 6.4

    Hey there

I have been playing SS for a year now, until i stopped for a while, but recently i returned to the game and started a new campaign like two weeks ago with HRE and i am currently on turn 205 or something, holding 45 regions. This being said i would like to share some suggestions and questions i have about my experience with this mod.

by the way, i think this mod is really, really good, most probably the best, along with third age total war.

    1) First of all, i was wondering a few days ago if this mod is supposed to be played on a specific difficulty? I mean after the installation one has to choose which AI we want, but does the campaign and battle difficulty in the game changes or corrupts anything? I mean suppose i select the AI which is most passive, but then in the game i select "very hard" both for the campaign and battle difficulty? how will the script responde to this? currently i am playing on "medium" for the campaign and "hard" for battles.

    2) I have recently experienced something that is annoying me. Sometimes when the AI army sieges one of my settlements, they refuse to attack. They just stand there waiting for my army to starve and eventually die. This has occurred very few times, like in 400 battles, only 5 times, but still i wonder if that is suppose to happen? I use that strategy sometimes when i know the enemy won't send reinforcements, but still i don't like the AI to do that to me lol. I just wonder if sometimes an error occurs with the AI?

    3) Another issue that bothers me is when i continually win the AI, whether when i am defending from a siege or when i face the enemy armies on the open field; even against multiple enemy armies at once or with multiple attacks without even having the chance to retrain or reinforce my ranks. I have experience situations where the AI tries to conquer a certain position but i continually defeat them, army, after army, though i do tend to find this very advantageous for me i think this is dumb and not realistic. I wonder if it is possible to improve the scripts so the AI will find a different strategy after being defeated several times by the same army, on the same settlement or field battle. Perhaps after two failed attacks, the AI should only attack again if they have a much larger army or they should come up with a different strategy, maybe combining several armies from different positions, i don't know.

    4) Last question guys. Wouldn't everybody love to have a wider variety of catapults and trebuchets? not to mention other siege weapons and equipments? I know people have come up with new catapults and trebuchets on other mods, third age total war is one of them, they made a troll catapult unit, so it's possible. I think that would be grate, personally i love trebuchets, i have actually build more then one on my country house, as high as a bus, and they do work perfectly hehe.
Oh and one more thing, i don't know if they have removed cannon towers from the game, can anyone tell me if they did? i hope so, i always found those very stupid.

    plz reply guys

    2. There is a certain power ratio between the AI army and your garrison, over which the AI will initiate the siege. If that ratio is not met, they will starve you out. If you don't want them to starve you out, then either sally out to attack or send another army to attack them while they're starving you out. Siege defense battles are very easy to win with equal forces, which is why the attacking AI army requires a bigger army in order to initiate the siege.

    4. No, not really. The export_descr_units entry limit is maxed. Adding more siege units would mean removing other units. I think the siege units are fine. No, they haven't removed cannon towers. You can remove them yourself if you want to though. It's not that difficult. Find a tutorial on how to add new buildings and then do the opposite with cannon towers.

*Not specifically replying to PapaRosario, just using this quote to highlight a certain point.

Many mods merge siege units and remove lots of fantasy units or unimportant units, adding in other units. But they tend not to add any more siege units in - there are plenty of non-siege units that can be added in once the unit count has been cut, more than enough in fact.
