    Default Are Marriages Bugged?

I recently as the Mori attempted to arrange a marriage, as the option was available, between one of my sons and a Date hime.

It was accepted, much to my delight, and new bonds were formed between our clans.

Except when I checked the family tree, there was no new wife for my son. What gives?

Also, I wanted to ask another question, at what age do sons come of age? I have a son who is 19 but still not samurai, why is this? It doesn't seem realistic to be, but maybe Rommel will come in and show me the error of my ways.

It's said, that if you say his name three times after watching The Last Samurai, he will present to you with his katana unfolded and answer any question you have about medieval Japan. But as knowledge have a price, he promptly cut your head off after answering every single one of your questions flawlessly.

I think the Coming of Age is slightly randomized. I've had some come of age at 16, and then some later on.

What's the point of the marriages anyway i never noticed any use of them except firming the Alliance .

Well, it does give a massive +100 to DR. Probably comes in handy when you want someone to really like you. I'm not sure how much the effect of that is, I wonder if Date would still backstab me at this rate, but for now it adds a little RP if anything. I can choose when someone gets married rather than waiting for a random event, and I can add certain bloodlines that I prefer (like Date blood, it's pretty much dragon's blood in ningen form).

That is, if my son would actually appear to have a wife afterwards, which he doesn't in this case. Maybe it's because he's not a full-fledged samurai unit? But then again, he's almost 20. If he doesn't become one soon I'm going to start to think puberty never came for him.

While admittedly not good ol' Erwin, perhaps I can emerge from the mists of Heian-Kyo and answer what I can. While 19 would indeed be quite old for a coming of age ceremony (called genpuku) it wouldn't be impossible, as the usual age range of the ceremony was 11 to 17, with 12 being the usual age. There was no set age, however. In the late 19th century the age of adulthood was set at 20, and there it remains to this day (There's actually a holiday now called seijin no hi on the 2nd Monday of January that celebrates all those who have turned 20, which has pretty much replaced individual genpuku).

Your son is in a legal and time honored tradition of pederasty. And his male partner is still clinging to your son refusing to make him a "man".

Although sex between the couple was expected to end when the boy came of age, the relationship would, ideally, develop into a lifelong bond of friendship.
Thats what I can come up with. Have no fear, your Mori-kun is in good hands....
