    This is the largest scale WarMap yet, map_heights is 1021x721 up from 1021x675.
    There is only 114 regions/settlements, down from 165 in WarMap I. The fewer settlements on the large map, combined with a two turn recruitment for all units ensures that the battles are infrequent and decisive. No more two and three battles every turn, now it's one decisive battle every two or three turns.

    The strict Homeland ZOR used in WarMap I is no longer needed and is not used in WarMap III.
    The special units that can be recruited from conquered capitol cities has been retained. Along with most other features found in the original version. Game start now resembles vanilla with low level settlements and many rebel provinces.

    For those who like the map, but not the gameplay enhancements, a BareBones version will be available soon.

    the barebones map that will be released in the future would it take alot of work to have a RTW1.2 version?

    the heights file looks interesting granular (like sun surface), is this from satellite ?

    repman, The heights file is all done by hand. One pixel at a time. I use satelillite data for reference only because, satellite data contains blurred or fuzzy pixels, which can result in dual heights being rendered. Also, WarMaps large scale needs large scale mountains to keep things in proportion. The satellite data looks like mole hills, not mountains, and the heights for the steppes is not geographically correct, but is made to give the battle fields gently undulating terrain.

    Bi options, hmm maybe, but BI can keep those swimming units that can't walk across a bridge.

    Yes, work has already begun thanks to repman providing the required files in this thread. I am using WarMap IV which was not released for RTW. This map is the max size that the RTW engine allows, which is map_heights of 1021x1021. This map covers pretty much the same area as the mighty Mundus Magnus map. The map will not have the America's represented and I hope to change the American Indian factions into an African and an India faction.

    how can i take the map part and add it to the normal RTW ? love the map. and would like to add it to my own little copy past mod with mix unit skins and edited unit.files as well as building file. what files would i need to take from your map to add and make it work?

    i am not a mod expert 8) just like to pick and take things from alot of mods and paste it to my own game file to play?

    Lord_sgmorris, Ok. Delete all files and folders in the the WMIII/data folder keeping only the world and text folders. In the text folder delete the export_units txt and the export_VnVs txt files. Then remove/replace any/all WarMap III specific units in the descr_ strat. You will also need to remove the comments in descr_mercenaries txt to re-enable mercs. I think thats it, but let me know if you have any problems.

    If you want to install the map to the imperial campaign, and not as the default provincial campaign you'll find the answer in posts #301 and #303 in this thread.

    Sorry m8, I forgot about the hidden resources in descr_regions txt. To ensure I did'nt forget anything else I have uploaded BareBones III. I have only ran a brief test to ensure the thing loads and exits without errors. The download contains both an Imperial campaign and a provincial campaign Drag 'n' Drop installation.

    BareBones III v1.1 mod for RTW v1.5
    Update: v1.1 fixed campaign descriptions.

    e.g. Which ever faction controls Sparta can recruit Spartans. Woad warriors from Londinium, Sacred band from Carthage, etc. This represents regional/mercenary troops. Many mods use similar Zone Of Recruitment or Area Of Recruitment methods.
