The live action sequences seem to raise the game above a PG level that one could play with kids in the room or I dare say kids playing the game.

I much preferred the animated sequences and believe they gave much more depth of character to the game. They just needed to make the animated sequences more epic.

    A little like this:

A live action trailer does not the game rate.

It`s just a live action trailer.

Sorry I should clarify as I am assuming that this footage and others like it will be in game instead of the animated sequences we used to have.

That animated film looks excellent Destraex.

Yes, I agree with you the Trailer for Rome TW2 is in very poor taste. Depicting the bloody stabbing of that guy during a sex scene is hardly appropriate for a strategy video game (although far from untypical) and certainly isn't a fair representation of one of the greatest empires the Woirld has ever known. Yes Romans could be very cruel and brutal but their economy and social organisation was very advanced and for me they are best remembered more for their engineering feats and military victories rather than the plots revolving around their leadership. I am surprised why they did that in such a way given that the game is played by all ages.

It's about the betrayal and corruption and individuals with Imperial ambitions that was certainly very common during the late Republic and throughout the Imperial period and will, so we are told, be a big part of the game.

It is like a bad hollywood depiction of modern american or british politics. They focus on the sex and corruption but that is not what is actually getting done most of the time.
Its part of it, but not typical.

Sex and corruption was big part of roman politics. Julius Caesar used sex as a tool and was betrayed by his own friend. Our society is also interested in the portrayal of vices in movies so the trailer does its job in showing a darker side of Rome, no one is saying it's 99% of roman politics.

Shogun2 was rated M, R if you had blood pack. Since Rome2 is going to be alot more graphically detailed, and much darker, it's going to be rated R anyway, i think.

    It's always been rated 16+.

Plus I'm not sure what the big deal is, you see massive battles with people killing each other, it shouldn't be a kids game anyway (officially anyway, not like many people actually care about age ratings, at least here in the UK).

I think animated violence between pixeltruppen is vastly different to real people on the screen.
But if its always been 16+ anyways I guess it does not matter.

The trailer is trying to appeal to an audience familiar with dramatised depictions of Roman History such a HBO's Rome, Spartacus, Gladiator, The Eagle etc. It is evocative, has good production values and well scored. Sure, they could have made a three minute trailer about a bridge being built or Legionaries getting butchered in Tuetoberg Wald, but various scenes of political intrigue, post-coital murder and civil strife tick rather more boxes when advertising.

Rome is brilliant. Still have the whole DVD collection. I hope the game is much darker and realistic like the HBO version. Heck, pop in a few naked ladies too!

Yeah, that show was 12 episodes of amazing.
It's so sad how the very best shows only get one season.

It had two seasons and the second one was great, less sex and more action. It even had a battle unlike the first one.

That is wrong on literally every level.

There were more sex scenes in Season 2, fewer action scenes (And an equal amount of battles) and it doesn't exist.

what are you talking about? they didn't show a single battle in the first season.

and more on topic I don't think they'll do live action movies in the game. Live action trailers is just a fad thats come back for some reason and most big budget titles have them now.

Does someone still care about those ratings? Really? Who could have thought...

But live action trailers don't get inside the game itself, they are just trailers for the internet. More so if it's an announcement trailer.
