    Default Rome II Narrator

so Shogun had Togo Igawa as the main narrator for the game, they also had other voice actors to voice the clan leaders...and that was cool...it added a sense of identification with each clan...

so who should be the narrator for Rome II? or in this case Narrators! since we know that there will be different factions!

One thing i can say for sure...i want Russell Crowe to be the Narrator for the Roman Republic/Empire faction...that will be beyond epic!

also the CA is saying that they are adding more drama and cinematic moments into the game...so a powerful narrative performance will certainly make your actions matter even more!

I don`t know if I like the sound of that.

RTW and if I remember right, MTW2, had cinematic moments when your General was killed or the enemy General and when gates were busted open. It was ok for the first battle, etc, but after that I was looking for the switch to turn it off. There wasn`t one. Problem is, the cinematics kept cutting in right when you are in the middle of a tactical move and then you got flipped back and lost track of what you were doing which could lose you the battle.

Fortunately, it was easy to switch off in the Preferences file.

Will it be so easy to switch off here in RTW2 especially that Modding is so much harder compared to MTW 2 days? This is why I can`t get excited about something I may not even buy if it proves terribly arcady with no option to change. If I want cinematic in my face i`ll go to the cinema.

I don't know whether I want my actions narrated. Maybe a couple of events, like "Spartacus Rebels" or "Hannibal crosses the Alps", but otherwise, I want to be the one writing the narrative of my game, not CA. To narrate a dilemma or event (like the harvest or Christianity in Shogun) would be cool, but not too much.

Someone with a suitably Patrician voice. Derek Jacobi (Gladiator; I, Claudius), Kenneth Cranham (Rome), Ian McNeice (Rome, Spartacus) and Nicholas Farrell (Roman mysteries, The Iron Lady) are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. As CA seem to want this game to be their Magnum Opus they could get a big name... or not.

Narrator or not, I demand that Ian McNeice be employed as my chief advisor in his best Town Crier form. Without his extravagant "build farm here" rhetoric, how else will I provide True Roman Bread for our True Romans?

Likewise, James Purefoy must, must be cast as the Military Advisor.

Oh, I can see it now...

Derek Jacobi or Brian Blessed would be the best choices, in my opinion. Or both!

That's what I really hated about original Rome. I don't have anything against American accent, but it should never be used in a historical context. Ever! For me personally, it ruins the feeling of immersion, be it a movie, or a game.

James Earl Jones is an American...can't beat Darth Vader. But...I don't think he'll be applying for this opportunity. Though having Darth as your personal adviser would be acceptable to me.

Peter Coyote would be perfect. He has done the narrating on many documentaries. He has that classic voice.
