    Default Achievements In Rome:2

i would love to see some very good achievements in Rome 2, preferably with in game benefits. for example

-20 heroic victorys and your enemys fear you diplomatically
-lose 20 battles and enemys are more likely to attack
-take a entire historical province with a single legion (spain, egypt) and that legion gets a special title as well as the commander
    - exterminate 1,000,000 people
-kill 100k,200k,400k,750k and 1M people in battle
-kill 100 people with a generic assasin and you gain the arcani model for your assasin on the campaing map as rome
-kill 500 people and new traits unlock for your assasins
-hold 100 regions and your flag turns purple as rome and your FL's are all forever known as emperor
-be reduced from 100 regions to 50 your FL's are forever known as '>name< emperor of dreams'

perhaps unique achievements for specific factions such as greece (just a few ill write up on these factions, i have a LOT of ideas for here)

    - rebuild the mausoleum, gain financial and public rest reward
    - hold all historical territorys at one time, public rest, and financial reward
-kill off macedon, alexanders true heir trait, elite phalangites unlocked for greece

    parthia

    - release 5 million arrows in battle, black arrow trait
    - kill selucia, destroyer of the silver shield title and trait

    Egypt

    - Invade europe, 'the grain comes to bite' trait
    - take certain regions and unlock a new trade route to your capital

    macedon

    - kill off greece, crusher of the free people trait
    - kill off sparte, '..and they had no walls!' trait (perhaps generic for all factions this one)

    gaul (one of the tribes)

-take over britain, 'tea for a barbarian!' money prestige and new trade lanes unlocked
    - get heroic victory over romans 'Roma Perditus!' diplomatic power increased

and so on... i have more but ill write it up later on.

not to bring another game into this but the achievements should be done in a similar fashion to that damned game world of warcraft with a ding and a bang so to speak so its addictive. should all be viewed in game in Rome 2's own UI and not exclusively in steams, and should be rewarding and useful to the game itself with the more trivial ones simply giving characters or factions leaders traits.

thoughts? opinions? perhaps you have a few achievement ideas of your own to share?

I agree with the idea of giving titles and traits to your faction leader/general/armies depending on actions undertaken.

    I think everyone does.

I really don`t think Ca should waste one single second or iota of energy trying to think up a 100 `gold star` achievements when they could be working on the intricacies of the game itself.

Complete pointlessness in my humble view.

Fully agree. Achievements are okay for COD no. 27 "my *** is longer than yours, and I'm so good with my aimbot", but in a game for a mature sophisticated audience they are out of place.

i dont think so i thoght up the above in about 10 mintes im sure they have far more imaginative people on their teaam who could dream up more in seconds.

this would add depth and a drive to keep the player in the same campaign

NO GOD GOOD LORDY, OH NONONONO... nothing against you Ultra, but the least thing we need is the game more interwoven into the MMO world, with things like achievements that are essentially brag medals unlocking stuff up... next thing we know, they will be selling us achievements packs for us to buy in order to unlock some unit.... ok, I'm overly exaggerating there. But achievements to unlock content... that's not something I would like to have.

Honestly I never pay attention to the achievements, I wonder who actually does? When I first played I noticed them once in awhile but I haven't seen one in awhile so I guess I've played enough to have gotten most of them What is the point to them? Do they unlock something somewhere I've never noticed? I saw them in Mass Effect and other games as well and I wondered why this craze for achievements? I can't see anyone demanding them but maybe I just go to the wrong forums as here is a request...

Normally they're entirely for bragging rights.

OP however is proposing stuff like giving your faction leader (Or the perpetrating general) traits and titles for vanquishing a specific faction, or financial benefits for rebuilding wonders of the world.

I remember at the last winter Steam sale, you received free stuff from steam if you had certain achievements from certain games. In fact, I got a game bundle for having a Shogun 2 achievement (the one where you have to win a winter siege with your daimyo). So they're not ENTIRELY useless.

It shouldn't be hard for them to think up of some more achievements.

That it's already on the game, or it was until Medieval total war where your general could end up hating X faction, giving him an edge while fighting them, specially if the enemy commander feared your faction.

It was in until Shogun actually, and even in Rome days the system was hollow as it included all of 2 things. Turncoats and slaves.
You also got vanquisher for taking cities, but the man who sacked Italy got no more benefit than the man who retook some Gaulish towns.

indeed, the system before was hollow, something could spice this up and can be very simple and cost effective.

NO GOD GOOD LORDY, OH NONONONO... nothing against you Ultra, but the least thing we need is the game more interwoven into the MMO world, with things like achievements that are essentially brag medals unlocking stuff up... next thing we know, they will be selling us achievements packs for us to buy in order to unlock some unit.... ok, I'm overly exaggerating there. seems you have read last paragraph or so in the op and ignored the rest.

thats the point, my system would make them worthwhile and perhap even make you proud of your in game achievements.

    They are simply bragging badges
that is irrelevant in a single player focussed game like R2TW where only yourself and those you usher to the computer table can see them.

exactly they are implementing them anyway the system will be in place, why not dream up some more interesting ones that affect your gameplay rather then 'conquer europe' - heres a little black box to say well done-
