Default God worship without a heaven, yes or no

PLEASE BE HONEST AND THINK ABOUT THIS A WHILE BEFORE VOTING!

Question goes like this, would you still worship, love and honour christian/islamic/etc. god if you knew you wouldn't get into heaven or there wouldnt be such a place for true believers.

    I will approach this with a scenario;

You walk in the local park in the morning without a specific reason, suddenly, you start to notice dim light coming towards you, when it reaches few meters away from you and whispers below words to you.

Greetings traveller, I'm your god, the one, I have always been and will be, but you, you are not going to get into heaven while I continue to exist, neither will you end up places such as hell, you will just disappear, but don't despair, I will still love you as my own child, but either you believe me or not, it will not change the results.

A moment later you wake up from trance like feeling, somehow you know that this was a real god, not just your own mind doing tricks, it's true what you heard, and you know it, simple as that.

I have always wondered that how many of the people who preach about the love of God would actually worship him if there wouldn't be a pass for them to heaven.

This whole matter is a bit strange to me, while God grant us free will, but in case we choose to disagree with him/her/etc. we go to hell and if we devote our lives to worship this being, he grant us eternal life heaven. This does not sound like a freedom to me, but rahter extortion and blakmail.

This question has bothered me for ages, while not being a believer myself I have always wondered what those that are in fauth think about this matter.

You would know it is the real God, and his words are true and final. Please try to refrain from using comments such as; I would seek medical help after this, how do I know he isnt just testing me, what if it was a Satan luring me, etc.

Well it would tell me he was real, and strengthen my beliefs even more. Although the prospect of not having eternal life with him would be a downer, I would realize that Earth is the place for us to do His work, and do it.

    Nothing more. Nothing less.

Of course you would know in that point he would be real, what I am asking would you still devote your life to his will. :hmmm:

EDIT: Are you sure you would still devote your whole life to gods will, even if he wouldnt ask for it or give you anything in return.

Anyone with half a brain would. Look if you read the bible at all you know god uses many tests. Now knowing he is real I would have to look at this as one of those tests and devote myself even more to his service. At least Im not going to hell.
I have nothing against the womens movement. Especially when Im walking behind it.

Even if you knew this wouldnt be test of any kind.

In this scenario you would be sure that it would be one true God, and the words be final, end of it.

Yes. How am I too know if he is not testing my will, my faith. Finding salvation on Earth is also an important part of the Church, so not only would I know God exists and is my creator, but I would also strive to gain his mercy for my sins. Living a better life both physically and 'emotionally'

Edit: And I must say the poll is very flawed. It is assuming God doesn't exist, and if he comes to you and reveals himself, then saying. I still don't believe in him, saying he doens't exist is like saying that you don't believe in cars, that cars don't exist.

Its not about that, its about the question, would you still devote your life to God and accept God as before, even if you would not end up into heaven.

Yes, so saying I don't believe goes against what the question is asking.

    Bah, whatever, its your thread.

Well of course. Following Christian teaching is *supposed* to lead to temporal satisfaction. And, if there is a God, that answers that question.
Given any number of random, even contradictory metaphysical postulates, a justification, however absurd, can be logically developed.

How do you know he's real?

I'd still worship God, even if he told me I'm not going to heaven. I don't see why you wouldn't really, if you knew for a fact that he was God, he should be worshipped just for being God.

What would happen to us then, assuming we don't go to heaven or hell? Some type of limbo or hades perhaps?

We would rot in our graves like normal people.

    Nothing.

Then yes, my position remains unchanged. I'm not afraid of non existance, it'd probably be pretty peaceful. The fact would still remain that God told you this, and assuming the situation you put forward, It'd be right to worship God no matter what.
Even if you die and your soul ceases to be, you still had the opportunity to live and enjoy some existance, so why not worship him for that?

As to the post I've quoted here, your setup seems to assume that a Christian God exists, so by that logic "normal" people would end up in either heaven or hell, not rotting in the ground.

    Your right I suppose.

That is my opinion in real life, not like it would be in this scenario. Sorry for confusing you about that sentence.

It wasn't confusing, just a little out of place.

If God is supposed to be all mighty and forgiving, then why shouldn't we all end up in 'heaven'?

    I picked number 4 btw.

I dont care much about heaven, I dont think it exists. When I die I'll be content to let my conciousness melt away into nothingness like the billions of people who lived and died before me, joining back with the star stuff that we were all born of, my memory fading away into obscurity. Such is the fate of all living beings, heaven is a fantasy for the self important who think their existance must be special.

    thats what I think anyway

I just realised that you can throw abit similiar question to atheists like me, only backwards this time.

Question would be, would you start to worship god, even if you knew you would get into heaven no matter would you devote your life to him or not. :hmmm:

EDIT: Of course this question is much easier to answer because now we would be assuming that heaven would exist and it wouldnt be away from anyone if non believers would get there also. Just something I started to think.

If God told me that I was going to hell no matter what I did, I'd tell him to go **** himself.

But seriously, I see no reason to worship a being that evil.
