Help With Specs

I hope this is the right forum for this question. Basically, I wanted to know what kind of computer is optimized for running total war games. I read they are cpu intensive, so it might not be a typical gaming computer. I was looking into making a computer, and I want to be able to run at least empire on ultra with max graphics. I will be upgrading my comuter in the future, when I will want to play shogun 2 and rome 2. For now I plan on using an AMD phenom II x4 965 BE cpu and a radeon hd 6850 gpu. I plan on upgrading to an intel core i5 or i7 when I have the money. Is the AMD good enough for empire and maybe shogun 2, and will I have to upgrade the gpu in the future and to what. Also, what intel cpu should I upgrade to and why. I want to understand what makes a computer good for total war.
