This sounds like a good scenario for a possible Dlc campaign on the style of what they did for shogun 2 ...

I actully would like a full scale Expansion pack not a DLC....Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai Was probly the first full xpack I ever saw in a while from Ca. I hope they get away from tedious Dlcs please!! But other then that I think this idea is a good one but hopefully in full detail!! and not a cheapo dlc.
Total War is the only massive war game that has yet to be Surpassed keep up the good work CA don't let us down!!!!
I think it could just be a campaign Dlc with the excuse introduce more deep empire units and provide a sort of civil war scenario to play as sort of " birth of the samurai" dlc for shogun 2 ....
Ofc another nice one would be the Alexander campaign
And another one focus only on singular battles of ancient history featuring new units and factions like spartans vs persia, thermopilae , salamina , quadesh ...
Hittites vs egyptians
Assirians , babylonians , perhaps even a siege of troy battle

Romans, fighting Romans, with a side of fighting Romans.
Yeah, sounds like a great idea.

I like the idea of specific campaign but i don't like short campaigns of only a few months or years like in Nappy or even Shogun. I like to build up a Dynastie like in CK2 (Paradox Game). I liked it in Rome and Medieval II. and hated that this was nearly gone in the following titles. I had the most fun with this in EB because of the enourmous mass of traits for individual Charakters.
Another fact that would be lacking the game experience would be the fact that training troops or order buildings would be obsolet because of only one year of campaign. Also Roman civilwars are mostly with only a few battles and the decicion is like allway money. Who get the support of the most Legions.
As a Expansion i would like a completly different Scenario with a huge Unit variety like the Barbarian Invasion, The Second Punic War.
Alexander Expansion would be interesting, but i did not like the way they did it last time. Map was too small and limited Turns... I know Alexander died early but normally we can change the history.
Interesting for the Grand Campaign could be a earlier starting date, after Alexanders Death to have the completly Diadochi Wars in it. Would be also more interesting to playing as Ägypt if you have to etablish your Regency first.
Proud to be a real Prussian.
I for one would like to see a Campaign Editor to be honest Sadly I think they will never give us oneI would actully pay for a Campaign editor my self I want to create my own type of Campaigns!!!

People always talk about Vespasian and the year of the four emperors. Honestly, it wasnt that spectacular. It was 1 year with 4 Emperors. Big deal. The 3rd Century was more interesting.
In the 3rd Century you had the time of troubles which lasted for decades and offers more gameplay for a DLC.
You begin after Alexander Severus reign in 235. His reign was largely peaceful except for some conflict with the Sassanids and the Germans. It was only 10 years prior that the Parthian Empire fell with the defeat of the last ruler by the Sassanids, who revolted. Anyway, after Severus you had the Year of the Six Emperors. Thats a lot bigger than the year of the four emperors. Just prior to Severus though it was the year of the Five Emperors.
After Gordian III, the last of the 6 emperors you had Phillip the Arab, who had a number of revolts and germanic incursions. He also offered to resign but instead appointed his successor Decius a special command encompassing all of the Pannonian and Moesian provinces. Decius was proclaimed Emperor by the Legions and he marched on Rome, defeating Phillip. Decius ruled from 249 to 251 until he was killed in battle. He was followed by Emperor Trebonianus Gallus, 251-253. He was followed by Aemilianus who ruled for 3 months. Aemilianus achieved a victory against the goths and for this reason his legion declared him Emperor so he marched on Italy defeating Gallus. But he didnt last long because the Valerian then marched on Italy with a much larger army and defeated Aemilianus. Anyway, Valerian ruled from 253 to 260, later with his son Gallienus.
Valerians reign is the most interesting because its the time of troubles. Things went from bad to worse in Europe. The sassanids invaded Syria, sacked several cities, including Antioch. Valerian recovered the land but then the goths invaded in Europe so he had to return. Later he was defeated at the battle of Edessa and negotiated a peace with Shapur I who was religiously motivated to expand the Empire. For that reason Valerian was taken captive by Shapur I in 260 and held until about 264 when he died.
Shapur I though was very intelligient and used the Roman Engineers he captured in battle to build Roman siege equipment and Roman Dams, as in the example of Caesars Dam in Susa.
Anyway Gallienus then followed and his reign was mixed. He won a lot of military victories but he was never able to keep the empire from falling apart or seceding. There were a number of German invasions and revolts.
A number of Emperors follow who ruled for only a couple years.

I really would like a Alexander dlc....but I'm fine with a rehash of Barbarian invasion tbh
I just don't want a dlc with romans killing romans......as I generally prefer to play the non-roman factions...
Alexander is almost a separate game. Or should be. It is technically a Macedonia TW or hellenistic TW since Alexander consider himself at least Greek in Culture.
DLC proposals before the game even comes out, from "fans" no less? WTF?
Ever wanted to be able to attack the city of rome the second turn when playing a roman faction yourself in RTW? then click here
