    Default bible and

    The same old debate ey?

I searched and found one of the parts that deals with the issue:

"'When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Any clothing or leather that has semen on it must be washed with water, and it will be unclean till evening. When a man lies with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both must bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening. (Lev 15:16-18)"

So you can do it but you must wash yourself afterwards?

are there any other parts that state something else?

No, you can't do it, as I understand the text. It does refer to an emission while doing sex with a woman.
Other parts explicitly tell us that God punish those who .
Okay, the sentence structure looks like if there could be an ejaculation without woman, but this may refer to spontaneous ejaculation during night or in early morning. apart from that, the sentence structure might come from the hebrew original, and that's diffusing.

Then why does it first say:
When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Any clothing or leather that has semen on it must be washed with water, and it will be unclean till evening.
    and then:
When a man lies with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both must bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening.
the first part doesn't mention the involvement of any woman.

Other parts explicitly tell us that God punish those who .
    ok, what parts?

Why on earth would it matter anyway? There are far more important things banned by the bible! Such as crop rotation, figs, or shrimp!

Ah, you may be thinking "But that was the old testament St Wassisface made Shrimp good." But what about Figs!? Figs are an abomination! Jesus hates figs!
    * JESUS REBUKED THE FIG AS AN EVIL ABOMINATION.
o "Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he was hungry.
"And when he saw a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it, but leaves only, and said to it, Let no fruit grow on you henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
"And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon has the fig tree withered away!"

    --Matthew 21:18-20

    * JESUS COMMANDED US NOT TO EAT OF THE CURSED FIG.
o "The next day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry:
"And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find any thing on it: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
"And Jesus answered and said to it, No man eat fruit of you hereafter forever. And his disciples heard it.

    --Mark 11:12-14

    * EAT A FIG, GO TO HELL.
o "He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore-figs with sleet."
    --Psalm 78:47

    * GOD PROMISES TERRIBLE VENGEANCE FOR FIG-EATERS.
o "Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty says: "I will send the sword, famine and plague against them and I will make them like poor figs that are so bad they cannot be eaten."
    --Jeremiah 29:17

And since when did Christians believe what's in the Bible? I mean, when I look in the bible I read a story about a chap called Jesus who wanted everyone to be a bit more forgiving and not as uptight about giving the church money. Then I look around me and don't see the good old Catholic Church selling all it's worldly possessions to give to the poor, don't see Protestants living a life of tolerance and forgiveness and above all don't see every Christian sharing what they earn.

There are far more important parts of the bible to worry about than . Then again I'm not a christian, so I might have missed the bit where Jesus goes "Blessed be the celibate of hand, for they shall inherit the earth."

Besides, to take it one step further, since when did the Bible carry the message of God? Last time I checked most of it was nothing more than a cut n paste job by those damned neo-Platonists.

Wasn't there some story about a man asked to "spill his seed" or something like that, and was struck down by God?

I'm not a biblical expert, and I really wish I had the time to read all of the Bible, as well as many other holy books of other faiths.

Onan, who didn't want to come inside his brother's wife (he married her by rule after his brother died). He wouldn't be the legal father of the child, so he did a tactical withdrawal.

Tostig and co. the point of this thread is to discuss whether  is permissible in the context of the Bible. Therefore any posts about whether the Bible is true/should be followed, are totaly off topic and just derailing the thread. Please keep to the topic.

Quite so, it does. Which has nothing to do with whether  is permissible or not.

It might well refer to a spontaneous ejaculation, or it might refer to both. Your point doesn't make any difference to the subject.

That is about the worst interpretation of the text I've ever seen.

However this entire discussion has already been made in this thread. But wait, it was off topic there. [Troll removed]

Please, remember the topic is that of  and its relation to the Bible in terms of being disallowed, and not such matters as shrimps, tasty as they may be.

The Bible often refers to men and women 'lying together', when it actually means intercourse. Which is pretty funny, because some Biblical books have no inhibitions about mentioning rape.

It is due to Biblical books being written by different authors; which is why there are contradictory messages within the Bible, and it is perfectly possible that  may be among these.

By far this is the most debated issue among christian men/teens, there will never be a definate answer. I myself don't, and it's pretty easy not to now. The leviticus passage is a bit iffy to me, it could go either way, and I don't think that verse holds the answer in and of itself.

your interpretation of that text it the most far-fetched I have seen, there's no logic behind your reasoning either.

I want to have a serious debate, not just you trolling around.

I mean, when I look in the bible I read a story about a chap called Jesus who wanted everyone to be a bit more forgiving and not as uptight about giving the church money.
which makes me wonder if you've even read the bible

There are far more important parts of the bible to worry about than .
so? I'm sure there are tons of other threads dealing with those parts, this thread is about what the bible says about  and if you don't want to take part in this thread you can just go away.

Besides, to take it one step further, since when did the Bible carry the message of God?
there are tons of cleansing rules and such in the old testament that jews follow even to this day, and if you remember, christianity is a continuation of the jewish religion.

In the bible it is not mentioned exactly the act of  however many church elders have told me that is forbiden
yes, and I wonder what they base it on

again, where is this passage that forbids ?

Uh, the point of confession of sins is to say sorry for the sins you have committed and to make every effort to not commit them again...so saying sorry and then going right back to doing what was sinful isn't gonna fly according to the Good Book.

That said, I agree with Justinian. That should end the discussion right there. :tooth:
