    Default Ending Date

One thing that I have detested in every single total war game to date is a predetermined end date. Win by so many turns or win by this year or game over.

Some may say its for historical reasons, but history goes out the window the second the player takes over. Egypt never conquered africa, spain, france, britain so why the clock on playing.

Some people might want that end date to loom over them and this is fine, put in a toggle. If i want to play rome into the 10000century then so be it this is a single player game after all.

    Your thoughts?

The end date gives you a goal to strive for, is there for that sole porpoise, but:

    1) Most people are fine with the challenge. The majority of guys think having 100 ~ 300 turns campaigns is enough and even too much.
    2) There's a lot of people that don't really care about the end date. As in every Total War game to date you could keep playing forever (in theory) if you want to.
    3) There's people that simply demand/make mods that increase the number of turns per year, so you have more chances to develop, turtle battle and whatever, giving you time to enjoy the campaign at your leisure.

I agree with your points, that is why I asked for it as a toggle then everyone should be happy even the modders who can do other things!~

While we are at it, a slider for turns per year would be a nice feature too, your thoughts?

I usually don't even try to get the victory conditions, and a lot of times, I just draw them for myself.

I don`t understand why people don`t just PLAY ON. Heck, even in Empire I played on (or rather tested) until around 1910!

EVERY TW game allows you to play on. Who cares if you didn`t `pwn` the world by xxxx date? If you stillhave a huge army and are kicking butt or just enjoying the Campaign, just carry on.

And please don`t tell me `But I want my achievements! waaah!` Because I have no patience for such childish nonsense.

A toggle doesnt hurt you or anyone else. I could care less about achievments, I want to play at my pace and my enjoyment to the conclusion, not play on after the game is over.

Also you need a serious attitude check, because that last remark mas extremely childish.

Also you didnt comment on a slider for turns per year, if you have an opinion.

No. The first 2 games (Shogun and Medieval) ends exactly as the end date and there's no option to continue. The games can even ends prematurely if you have lost your clan/family.

For Medieval1 you are right. But wasn't Shogun an open ending game also?

Regarding the ending-dates in general: You can continue the campaign but when having failed to conquer a set number of territories and particular provinces at the end-date you get a "You lost the campaign" Screen.
How about deleting the requirement of the end-date and having indefinite time for your conquest without any demotivating screen in the endgame?

I agree. A toggle doesn't hurt. They can always put those options in and they need to add those options no battle time limit like they were in RTW( I can't remember if they were in ETW and NTW). I mean why do you have to be limited by time ? what is the fun in that. What, do soldiers need to go home after 60 minutes of playing so they can have a nice rest ?. Well this isn't soccer after all.

I also want to play at my peace and enjoyment.

More turns per year are also good.

I want the slider to be made by CA so that along with turns per year if they feel that building and recruitment time also needs adjusted to keep the same feel as default.

I just like having 12 turns per year so there are 3 years of winter, makes for more interesting play imo because of attrition.

the time limit options are always there i remember seeing them in the advance options before starting a campaign you could put it at no time limit and i agree i always put the no time limit to play any battle and i think they should let the player decide if they want to continue playing or not

Those time limit options were for the real time battles not removing of the arbitrary game over date

I really wish that the time limit option worked for end date and that I was just unaware, would add new life to the old games for me

How do you feel about a slider for turns per year?

The more options players have, the more that each player can have the game they want

I am sure they will have an end date close to what you all wish.

How do you feel about a toggle tho to turn off the end date for those of us that want to take our time building the perfect kingdom?

Also I notice different start dates, do you wish for something like early era, middle era, late era starts?

Lots of great ideas and the best way imo for CA to implement this is with sliders.

Make the game customizable for what each individual wants in their game.

    - turns per year slider. this adjusts build times ect.
    - victory conditions clickable like total domination, set regions, ect.
    - start date option. Like early mid or late era.
    - end date slider. default on one end and no end date on the other.

Options CA, that is what we all crave

For those that may argue history, history ends the second a player takes control
