Default Best mouse for the money

    All:
My mouse started shorting out recently, so I needed to replace it. For a quick fix, I bought a Logitech B100 mouse for $15.00 (after shipping), but with the multitude of mice available, I'm curious:

What is the best mouse for the money? I mainly play games (RPG, FPS, StarCraft: Brood War, and Diablo I and II: LOD) and browse the web.

I prefer a five button with two thumb buttons on the side for navigating web pages. (Back and forth, etc.) Anything more than that probably isn't worth the price, but investing in a 5 button is, in my opinion.

For wired mouses I highly recommend Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse which I bought myself a few years ago:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Its back is all rubber and very reliable for gaming or painting things, better than all of non-pro-gaming mouses I have seen, and it's cheap! The downside is that if it falls onto ground accidentally, the wheel is likely to break or malfunction (look at the pic: wheel can be pressed to left or right, the design makes it very vulnerable).

This nice and cheap, recently bought one off Amazon for 10 pounds and I'm very pleased.

after using the MX518 and the G500, i ended up with the cheaper Logitech G400

wouldn't trade this for anything else. try the ergonomics and tracking of this mouse and then try any other mouse. optical > laser

i also play a wide range of games but mostly concentrate on FPS and RPG or strategy (turn based mostly, like Civilization, TW, or Endless Space)

Yeah...I was looking at getting the G400...but the store I went to to try and compare prices had the G500 and no G400s...and I was getting impatient and tired, and just wanted to go home (was a longish day at work ) and 'settled' for the more expensive G500.
Can't say I'm disappointed with it though. The G400 looks to be basically an updated version of the older MX518 - which I had for ages, and loved it...but it eventually died.

My recommendation would be to either try and track down an MX518 (Its getting on in age, so it would likely be fairly cheap now - but it is my all time favorite mouse) or go with the G400...or if you really, really want to...the G500 (it turned out to be $10 more than the G400 in my store) has 10 programmable buttons, dpi up to 5700...configurable weights system...some cool light-up things to indicate how high your dpi is set... - it's also really comfortable...but this is definitely more of a personal thing.

My RAT 7 is just fine. I do have to remove the odd piece of dust from the eye every now and then but just keep your mouse surface clean.
    Miss me yet?

Sorry to gate crash a thread but
Are any of the above mice decent sized? (I have big hands and had to swap a new mouse with my brothers microsoft 3 button one because the new one was made for midgets) Failing that does anyone know a large cheapish mouse with 5+buttons and decent dpi?

Try the Microsoft Sidewinder if you have big hands, it's a huge mouse with 5 or 6 buttons and adjustable weights, etc, and 2000 dpi.
