Default Editing the desc_character file - questions.

Hi, I did a few searches but could never seem to find the exact information I'm looking for. Basically, I'm playing around with the desc_characters file and I was wondering just how much influence it has over characters when they're on the battle map. The thing that confused me is the battle_equip entry. What exactly is the point of this? For example, on the roman general it says

"gladius, chainmail shirt helmet and rectangular shield"

Does changing this have any effect on a character's stats? If so, how do I edit the values for 'gladius' etc. Or do they just determine what weapon the general looks like he's holding?

    Thanks in advance.

That is a redundant part of the file, it does a grand total of nothing.

Aw, heck. Thanks Lusted. So there's no way of editing a general/captain in the same way you would edit a normal unit in desc_unit, then?

I can't seem to find the desc_characters file, don't I have to run a bat file in the medieval total war director or something, I can't seem to desc_characters file anywhere, even in the data folder. Where is it?

Also wasn't there some other file that needed to have a script added to it to activate the reading of the desc_characters file. I remember it was some cfg file. If anybody could help me out with this it'd be great. Thanks!

if you've got a .cfg file and can't see contents of your data folder you're in the wrong forum as that must be M2TW you're using....

if so, the thing you need in the .cfg I think is somthing on the lines of io file first - look in other forum for general guides on setting up M2TW for modding. And you would need to unpack the files with the unpacker that comes in the tools folder in version 1.2 onwards.
