I've always been fond of Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius, but in the end, I'd probably fight to preserve the Republic (I would support the Optimates in Caesar's Civil War; Gaius Julius Caesar be damned).

The role of Emperor may not even happen in the game, or it may not happen in the correct time frame. Thats the point of the TW games, to make your own "Emperors" and "Kings." Napoleon was the only game that wasn't like that.
