    Default The Pirate Copy

Firstly, I hope this subject can be brooched in adult fashion and be frank and open without breaching any tos.

Let me tell you how I got into the TW series to start with -

A few years back I was at a pals for Xmas, he's a computer boffin, my computer was bust and he fixed it. Long story short, I enjoyed the TV series Rome but missed the last two episodes. "No bovver" says he and before I knew it he's dl'ing the episodes for me. Well trying to learn I dl'd Rome the game from the same place. Followed all instructions and before I knew it I was playing one of the most engrossing games I'd ever played.

Well this game was so good I went out and bought it, also Barbarian Invasion.
Since my very first and only visit to that pirate site I've bought every TW game. Without the pirate input I'd never have bought one!

ATM with this Steam caper I'm beginning to wonder if I can be arsed anymore.

I'm not saying pirating is right or anything else but lately I can understand it a little better.

How do you blokes feel....nowadays I mean, not ten years back?

Is it taking the bread from the mouths of babes or is it a bite back for corporations taking the piss?

I would say that steam has really helped the muiltplayer side of things. I don't blame ca for using steam, I think it only makes there games better, so you get your moneys worth. I would in fact be mad if they stuck with gamespy which is terrible. I would say to buy the game if you like it (try demo), or don't get it at all if you don't. You only absolutely have to run steam online once in order for the game to work btw.

Exactly. Piracy is stealing however you slice it - expect this thread to be closed before too long; the mods around here don't like discussion of piracy.

I would add that Steam and Origin are a form of legalised criminality in what it does.

Funny how the world works, eh? As long as you can MAKE it legal, it ain`t piracy... even though it is. No wonder so many people become politicians and Solicitors and companies employ them.

    they`ve figured it out.

And how, pray tell, is Steam legalized piracy?

How did I know it wouldn't be to long before you showed up on this thread after I posted what I thought about steam?...

Man, if convenience is a legalized form of criminality... being a criminal must be pretty neat then. Don't get the hate people have over Steam. Stores my games, don't even have to be online, can freely uninstall and reinstall them all I want without having to worry about losing a disk or anything. Pretty sweet setup.

Though I guess my wallet complains about having sales so close with good deals.

True they hate it being brought up but hey and hey u pirating rome convinced u to buy it so in the end in this case it wasnt that bad. Btw I dont really like steam but I dont think its as evil or bad as people here make it seem its actually helped me find other games I would have otherwise never known exesited that I like
    dose it matter?

I actually like steam. I've heard people complain that they have to be online to play the game. Which is not true, but even if it was, how can someone play PC games without having access to the internet. This isn't 1995.

I would say that this thread will be locked. My only infraction came from talking nonchalantly about piracy, which is what you are doing.

Political mudpit if it wasn't so focussed on the TW franchise; piracy in this sense is like one night stands, you can taste the milk without buying the cow, though you can always marry it later if you find the experience enthralling enough, and the plus side being you get a form of family when you buy it off Steam. It's how I met your mother.

got a illegal copy from rome from a friend. just loved the game. but he needed the disc back, so i bought a retail version (didnt have steam back then). have bought every TW loyally since then (except with a bit delay on Medievall II gold). Im loving steam, it allows me to store my games easily, and i dont need to worry about discs. Only shame is that games you bought in retail cant be activated completly on steam (if i wanna play Medievall II, i still have to put the disc in even if i add it to my library, cause i didnt buy it on steam)
