I don't know if it's been said, asked, announced, etc. yet, but I'm quite sure something that everyone would like for Rome 2 would be blood and gore. This was an addition sorely missed from Medieval 2 that both Empire and Napoleon failed to fix, and though Shogun 2 brought it back (in a buyable DLC?), it was, to say the least, overdone and exaggerated in some ways. Though this was fun for looks and cinematic battles, it wasn't too realistic.
My idea, however, is to use a system similar to the Blood Pack DLC. In order to keep the game rating relatively stable and not offend anyone, blood and gore can be turned off, or turned to a low level. Then there can be a higher setting for Realism, which includes moderate blood and some gore (perhaps decapitations like we saw in Shogun), and then Blood Pack level, which is more cinematic and artsy and less realistic. Blood was certainly a demanded feature, and I hope these suggestions will at least be glanced at, because I'd like to see a realistic amount of this in the upcoming epic battles Rome 2 will undoubtedly provide.
Another return that I've seen some people ask for is a prisoner and wounded system. Several mods, including official DLC like Blood Pack, added writhin noises or even wounded soldiers to battlefields, but they would always inevitably die. It was a little unrealistic to see so many men fall without a single man wounded. Some attributes could give back battle casualties, but it still didn't mark the count of wounded in battle. I think it would be entertaining, for example, to see a large siege, with soldiers falling injured to arrow fire, being dragged off by their allies from the battlefield. Wounded could add to reinforcement speed of units, or slow them down or reduce combat efficiency. This way, if your own unit or an AI's receives massive losses in a battle, that unit won't be up to full fighting strength overnight, making for more decisive combat. If your wounded are unfortunate enough to be captured, they could become prisoners of war, and not prisoners as in you either let them go, execute them, or ransom them off right away, but instead can be kept in, perhaps, new prison buildings, where you can let the prisoners stay. Their presence can increase national happiness as you win wars and battles, but increase even minor upkeep cost for them. Perhaps for Rome even gladitorial events could be held with them to increase local happiness and strike fear and anger into enemies. The same goes with captains. I would like to see an ability to capture and ransom enemy leaders instead of just killing them right off. Roman Eagle Standards as well held high historical value. Why not add the ability to, say, as Carthage, defeat a Roman legion, bring back the Eagle Standard, and gain a temporary boost to morale and local happiness?
Any thoughts or additions?
