Default More Realistic Watchtowers and Forts

IN Rome Tw(1) so to speak, watchtowers could be just constructed by any family member and then be just left there, and besides extending your line of sight, you can't do anything else with them. They can't be manned and used to repel invaders. I think in Rome II, they should implement watchtowers to be a useful tactical base. Thus, it acts as a place where a small garrison, which can impede the passage of any invaders. Any army should be able to build a watchtower, not just family members.

IN the same way, I find that the forts in Rome TW(1) were too small, and highly unrealistic. IN Rome II, the Roman forts should be much bigger in size, and any army should be able to construct them, not only family members.

Post your ideas, thoughts, or such like!

Watch towers should also be a vital point in a battle if near one

The size of the fort should depend on the army building it, you should also have the option to have a say in how big the fort is and what defences should be in place. This will determine how long it will take to build. The basic fort should be done instantly, but any additional defences will have to take longer, this could include towers, trenches etc ? Im sure theres lots that can be thought up, this way over a few turns you really could end up with a brilliant defensive location.

With less micromanagement and also the added hastle i dont think we will be able to "buy defences" and deploy them ourselves. However i do think that there should and hopefully will be an upgrade feature to build bigger forts.

I dissagree with the idea that small armies should build smaller forts. Smaller forts are often easier to defend for many people. However maybe they could use this as an advantage and these forts would be more for garrisons of strategic areas rather than for holding an entire army. Therefore im putting forward the idea of an army fort, and a strategic fort.

The army fort would be for holding an entire army, this would therefore be more of a short term option, therefore maybe being made of wood, or have extensive ditches (this is more for desert areas)
The strategic fort would be built to hold certain strategic chokepoints and therefore could be more defensible with a small garrison, able to withstand assault from larger armies.

Quite, I think you should be able to dig trenches on around the fort too

Would be really good if we could work forts into mountains, however i think i am getting way too far ahead of myself at the moment. Would be useful to have forts guarding the alps when playing as Rome

Complicated forts would be wonderful to have, but I suspect even with an improved AI I'd be able to position my troops and nip off for a pint whilst the enemy throws itself vainly against my defences as in ETW.

I remember in another forum people talked about walls on borders that could be maned by troops. And what if you could build in forts like fort improvements?
