Alot of improtant things were happening elsewhere while Rome was in nappies.

Rise of persia would include Greece, so I give this a big tick!

Of course. While Rome is just starting to conquer the latin states, China already have an empire. What does Rome II have got to do with rise of Persia anyway ?

what did Rome have to do with Alexander? same story, people like to see new things.
Alexander's campaign was boring because he only fought one faction: Persia.
now what if you can play as that underdog? play as the petty persian vassals and conquer the known world. the rise of persia campaign will be more interesting because at least it has the potential to have a dozen major factions and 3 times as many minor factions. especially the Greek City states...pre-roman era.

I would love to see a rise of Persia (Assyrians are great villains), but personally I think that an axial age middle east deserves it's own game, so I would have to vote no. Additionally I dislike TW games that focus on one faction overwhelmingly, to me the best period is one of chaos with many competing factions, and none far in the lead. Not that I am not exited for Rome 2 at all

While Assyrians are great villains, they were incorporated into the Neo-Babylonian Empire at this point... but Babylonians are interesting villains too!

I'd rather have a separate total war game about this period. Preferably some sort of Babylon/Akkad Total War or something like that.

Although we have a similar named mod for Rome1 dealing with them I think the various cultures and the actual political and military history is too vague and less known to make this a detailed fascinating game. When nearly no one knows anything about the actual history it is hard to get excited for such a game.

How much does anybody know about the battles Cyrus, Cambyses or Dareios faced against Media, Lydia, Babylon, Bactria, Egypt central Asian nomads or Indians? We only have some vague depictions about their western conquests. Hell the historians don't even know how Cyrus came to power against his Median overlords. Or how important the Median Confederacy really was. Maybe it wasn't a real state even.

I too would love to see them go back to the egyptians\summerians and all that pre-biblical stuff.

Sail your ship as part of a fleet. Devs previously worked on: Darthmod, World of Warplanes, World of Tanks, RaceRoom, IL2-Sturmovik, Metro, STALKER and many other great games..

i think a game about this is really unlikely and if they dont make an expansion about it i hope they have mod support, i know some one will make a mod for it. and also i i dont want the persians to be the main part of the game im just talking about the period, greeks and all those other guys involved.

LestaT, what did Alexander the Great have to do with the original RTW? Didn't stop us from getting the Alexander expansion.

Rise of Persia would be okay but I really would prefer "Total War: Rome 2 - The Persian War." We've already done Alexander in the first RTW so covering the war that was the precursor for Alexanders invasion would be nice.

The height of Greek power facing off against the height of Persian Power? Yes please. The Battles of Marathon, Artemisium, Thermopylae, Salamis and Plataea? GOD YES!

So you are a CA mind reader and able to determine that because R2TW is a new game that only Rome related expansions are going to be allowed.

I don't think I need to clarify myself, but I will anyways. Past expansion games have not always been strictly related to the core period of the original (aka Alexander for RTW). Therefore one cannot dismiss a Greek/Persian DLC expansion out of hand. Which is what you are trying to do.

Rise of Persia? Useless and without any connection with the game. Rise of Rome? Perfect. Only a mod has concentrated on this "Peninsula Italica" and with the new engine and CA superb enigne this will be possible. I will for sure buy all the DLCs they will give out.

I'd rather have the rise of the Sassanids and capture a few Roman emperors, like Shapur did.

I like this. I'd like to see the Sassanid Persians be an emergent faction, who never exist if the Parthians do well (occupy the area of Persia and maintain high public order cities), but could arise around the area of Shiraz if the Parthians either get invaded and occupied by a foreign power or they end up with lots of public disorder. The result would be a faction a little like the USA in Empire, but since the Persians wouldn't be available at the beginning of the game, you'd need a special "road to independence" type campaign to allow you to beat the Parthians and allow the Persians to be playable in campaign -- which would be a fine DLC.

As much as I like to do Sassanid-wank, there's just not enough info to do something detailed.

How about no DLCs, since DLCs are money grabbing piles of ?
