After Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun 2, I'll probably wait a good year or two and maybe pick it up during a Steam sale. CA and Sega will really have to convince me to buy the game, and I'm as stubborn as a mule in these situations.

Except Napoleon and FOTS I always buy TW games on first day anyway (no pre-order). I only play them after 6 months though.

I played Rome Total war for maybe 2 days until I got bored of it. Rome total Realism and EB got me playing it for years, I might not even bother buying it until/if mods do come out for it.

Vanilla Medievel 2, Empire and Shogun were all boring also.

If the game were to release right now, I would buy it, but I want modders to make awesome mods.

I will wait until mod support comes out/ the first major overhauls are in production. Theoretically by then all the patches will be released. I will only buy it on release date if CA truly outdo themselves this time (like they did with the first RTW in terms of content). Otherwise I will have EB and RS2 for RTW, EBII and Dominion of the Sword for M2TW and The Great War mod to keep me waiting.
