I have the GeForce 8400 Graphics Card on my computer and i'm looking forward to replace my graphics card with 9800GT. Can it run well for Rome II? Is it possible to replace one graphics card with another? I have a HP Pavilion A1750e BTW.

You might not be able to change the graphics card if you have a laptop.
Well my CPU is the HP Pavilion A1750e. So it's possible to change the graphics card on a CPU, right? I was just asking if a 9800GS card can run R2TW smoothly.
oh okay, I thought that pavilion was only made as laptops. Sorry about that.
Anyway, nobody (not even CA) will be able to know if a 9800GS can run R2TW smoothly. They're currently aiming for the same minimum spec requirements as shogun 2.
The 9800GT is a fairly old card at this point and there is still another year to go before RTWII. How are you acquiring the card? I wouldn't suspect it will do much good, but hey, if it's free it's better than what you have.
Something to keep in mind is that the 9800 GT will require a 6-pin power connector; the 8400 probably does not. If your PSU doesn't have one you will need a converter.

Just save your money and get a much better video card next year before Rome 2 comes out.
The 9800 isn't worth buying these days, especially to play the newer Total War games.
Several points
- 9800GT is a fairly old card as Otherdude says, I had one, it's a feisty and nice card, but is outdated. It ran Shogun 2 with difficulties, so I think Rome 2 would be a non go. I would recommend you to get a newer card.
- For laptops (not that you have one, just in general for people reading this) there's not a real practical, user friendly way to improve graphic cards for laptops. There are however external video cards that can be attached to the laptop to allow you to play.
- The game is more than a year away, there's no way to predict how much power it will need, but we could say with ease that it will take A LOT. So it's better to prepare and buy the best now or saving money and waiting for the game to be released and then buy what you want to.

No idea Cossack. We won't know the requirements until closer to release, and I doubt even the development team has a totally clear idea of the final requirements.
The best bet would be to see how well your computer runs Shogun II, and then use that as a benchmark.
You might consider changing the entire platform, to me the greatest impact was not changing my video card, but the MB, CPU and RAM.
Video card is pretty useless without those.
Well my father told me I should save my money so I can go buy a new computer. That's what i'm doing.
but the GPU is still the most important things for gaming though.
Yeah, although i'd say the 9800GT will probably run Rome 2 on low settings, it isn't very good nowadays and I wouldn't recommand it.
Most of the testing I've seen for Shogun 2 indicated the CPU was the most important part of the system. Relatively old GPU on medium settings ran very smoothly even in larger battles but without a newer CPU there was heavy lag and slow turns on campaign.

I run a GeForce 9800 GT on Shogun 2 with NO problems at all. Make sure you are getting full power to the card (maxing the Watts) for best results.
I will be moving up the the GTX HD versions soon though and updating some other drivers and cars as well. But yes, a 9800 GT will run Rome 2 well If the CA is using the minimum specs of Shogun 2.
Q:How far will I go with Rome? A:Far enough mates, far enough to make the Gods haters, and the maids wetter than a tsunami in a rainforest.
Really? I had Gygabyte 9800GT but when played Shogun 2, FPS was not good, especially 80 armies on battlefiled of Fall of Samurai,
I have been upgraded from 9800GT to 7770 to increase FPS, i do hope it will work. By the way, we still have over 5 months to upgrade our spec

Tested the 9800 GTX+, works fairly well at HDready 1366x768 DX10; usually, it's better getting a current generation mid-level card, a previous generation high performance one, or if someone is gifting the card or you're getting it for around twenty or thirty bucks.
