Olympic Games every four years as an event

Hi guys, who else would like to see the olympic games to be implemented in the game as an event every four years. Even Caesar Nero participated that time back in the olympic games and participated in every discipline and won them all, even so he fell twice of his chariot in the opening event.

I think it would be a realy cool even to sent every four years you're best athletes to compete in this event. This could be just an event message or even more flashed out to gain reputation or maybe some mini game to participate. It's historical an could realy lighten up the gameplay.

Would like to see what others think about this idea.

So long as we don't get liberal with history and have anyone but the Greek states celebrate it. Once the Romans took over, they declined, and eventually (after Christianity, as usual ruining the fun in everything) were outright banned by the Roman Emperor of the time.

I don't think it should go as far as to make you actually participate in them manually, but rather you have the option to send participants every game, who if they won would gain your faction a bit more notoriety, and perhaps a slight boost to diplomacy for a few turns.

I think it should be a simple event, like the mild winter or such, a window telling you that the Olympics are being carried with maybe a happiness bonus for the faction or the city. And that's about it.

here on the RTW2 forum just to give the "comunity" what they are begging for.

1- It doesnt add much gameplay-wise
2- It requires time (= resources) that could be spent in something more important.

I like it. Traits are a good thing. I mean many Patricians owned Gladiators and supported the games. One of my family could be a famous athlete? It would make them a bit more popular. I mean I don't want every four years having some animation and a roster of every event, but to know a member of my family won something would be nice every so often.

This is a cool idea. It would be great if your characters gained traits from the Olympics by standing in the proper region. And if you controlled the region with the city of Olympia, then your whole faction should get a little happiness bonus for having the Olympics. But it would only work for Greek or Roman factions. This would add a little flavor and epicness to the game I think.

Don't know how this can be implented. Minigames would not fit to the TW game. Maybe only receiving traits for your hellenistic generals as in the EB mod. Or gain ancillaries like famous sportsmen.

p.s. Hasn't Emperer Nero won 1800 competitions and prizes during his visit to Greece in a single year. Probably the most successful artist and sportsman of all times. How many denarii would we need in Rome2 to bribe the various referees.

I think the Olympic Games is quite a good idea. You should be able to send a family member to participate, and depending on what happens, he can gain traits. That should be place different factions can negotiate stuff

Something like gladiator fights in arenas from Rome one but with a video.
