    Icon10 Preview : Dol Amroth - by Red_Devil

Ok, as promised a very small preview of this settlement made thanks to the IWTE. NOT FINISHED YET (far from it)

A few points before. I'm conscious that this settlement already has been made by leo.civil.uefs, I've written to him. I won't go in the details, so to make things short, I already had started this project and will try to give another feeling to this settlement, mine, knowing that some people won't like it and hoping others will .

I plan to make the city big. with city blocks: the harbour, the military barracks and trainning hrounds, the workshops, the great market, a park, a rich zone, a middle class one and a poorer one with inns etc and of course the great citadell... trying to make it fit in the third age universe but trying to organize the city as it would have been in medieval europe. hence the look of most of the buildings which will resemble those:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Most buildings are made by me except for a few (such as walls and items from vanilla and some osgiliath buildings), for now i used vanilla textures and a few of KK's.
the fact that i'm customizing every building is very time consumming so don't expect a quick release since as i said previously, I am far from having finished it and I'm going on vacation soon .

    So here are the screens:

    The trade harbour

The first wall and side gate

    The great gate

    Panorama of the harbour

The citadell: great keep and prison

    The military harbour

    The light-house island

    The marketplace

    Recent progress (september)

    Military harbour

    dol amroth stables

    dol amroth barracks

    commander's citadel

    entire town

    citadel gardens

    entire citadel

edit : added recent progress (september)
I am actually working on EB2; I still have hope to finish this settlement one day, but in a very long time probably given the time I have IRL...

    of course thanks to:
-makanyane and wilddog for their help on the IWTE.
-burny26 for his very useful noob's tutorial of the tool.
-KK for letting me use a few models and textures

Fantastic work! Looks very nice indeed, would love to have another custom settlement in the game!

Don't suppose you could show a birds eye shot of your Dol Amroth, just so we can see it all so far

    well done sir.

The bad point is, as I said, If you knew I was making it also, you could be working in some different settlement.

I knew that would happen! I warned KK and D_A about this!

This is why I told them about all my projects before starting it.

As for your settlement. The king's eye will judge it...

Again, congratulations... one more guy skilled in IWTE, excellent.

Yeah the same thing went through my mind. So many possiblities for creativity, but now only one will get implemented.

you're totally right, but well, it can be used in a submod. Everyone will have its preferences

Don't suppose you could show a birds eye shot of your Dol Amroth, just so we can see it all so far
Well I won't immedieately, I've shown all there is to see : the harbour is 90% finished, the walls are 100% finished eventhough I might have to change some stuff, the citadell is barely started and I almost finished the market place. but this is like 20% of the total work on customizing the whole settlement.

Looks a bit boring and the color is off. Dirty it up a bit maybe.
taken into account, but I'm doing all I can with vanilla textures since I only have gimp to work on, I couldn't make my own, so i'm pretty limited there. The city in itself will have narrow streets with 3 story buildings (except for the main places) so it should give a "messy" impression which was tipical in medieval cities.

all critics are very welcome, since the job is not over yet, I can still alter my plans.

I'll perhaps have something new for today

It would be cool if that was actually two maps (if it's ever made), one for the outer part and the other for the inner triangle.
Were there but a tree in this godforsaken place i would have hanged myself.

i like it, its just sad that ive never fought a battle in dol amroth XD. its like making one for esgaroth: it will look good, the one time out of a thousand where you attack it.

If you are playing as the evil factions you can always attack it. Just call an invasion and you will have an epic battle.

I also think that we should take one settlement for Dol Amroth and the other for Pelagir,
    since both look great
Jesus was nailed at the cross, Thor has got a hammer. Any questions?

I support this idea. Is there any strong evidence that suggests that Pelargir had that triangular shaped island? I also have a suggestion. You could use more pavement in the city so it would give it a more urban, progressist look like a rich gondorian city should have.
