Help Please

I would like to revisit Rome and use EB - but cannot work out how to get the thing to work. I have tried several guides here, and the blasted thing simply does not do what the instructions say it will, namely it writes all the files to the folder I have been instructed to use for Steam users, but never a desktop icon... I have tried 1.1, 1.2 and all points in between. I know it's tempting for you frequent EB users to say I am a idiot newbie, but I really can follow instructions, if they work.

Can someone please tell me how to install and use EB? I have Steam version of Rome, and use windows 7.

Point both EB 1.1 and EB 1.2 to C:/(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Rome Total War Gold
DO NOT point 1.2 to the EB folder that 1.1 creates.
In Steam, right click on RTW Gold, then click Set Launch Options, and type: -mod:eb -show_err
Launch from RTW Gold in Steam.

This works for me, but I don't use a shortcut, I just run it out of the Steam Library page.

Nah, you've simply got legitimate problems installing EB with steam.
