Could you beat a roman cohort, …with a car! [just a bit of fun naturally]

Ok so some weird QM and relativity thing happens, you are driving along in your ordinary family car and suddenly you find yourself transported back in time. You are now driving along in a field and are confronted by a roman cohort!

How many could you take out?…

1. Legion
2. maniples
3. cohorts
4. Centuries
5. 1 soldier
6. I’d get beat by one soldier.

I’d say the javelin/pilum would be the main problem, they would smash the windscreen and other windows, then the soldiers could run up and start hacking at your head.

Best tactic would probably to drive up to them slowly such that your speed wont work against you ~ provide greater impact for their javelins. Use surprise so hopefully they wouldn’t throw their pilum’s, then pedal to the metal baby, drive around in circles for as long as you can [before loosing to much momentum] and get out of there. Then hit n run, rinse and repeat?

Could you do it?
What would be your tactics?
Lets say a family car could include a basic 4x4.

My tactics? Just floor it and hope for the best! A modern car would soon be out of sight provided you don't get killed by their pila! Floor it and keep down, so you'd hopefully avoid any pilum hits and without doubt you'd take a lot of them down as well. Also remember that they'd be terrified of you as much as you'd be of them.

What, going at over a hundred miles an hour? And as I said before, they won't know what the hell you are - they'll think you're some kind of angry God. Or something. The noise alone will terrify them.

Ask yourself this question: if something you have never seen before is coming at you with an angry sounding roaring noise, and extremely fast - what would your instinct be? Hold fast and throw a javelin, or get the hell outta the way?
