    Default Rioting

As Rome II is its conception, I would like to put up a suggestion. I was playing the vanilla Rome TW, I had a riot in Arretium(I'm playing as the house of Julli). As a result, my best first cohort suffered terrible losses. It is my best legion, and I'm proud to say it has one gold chevron. I think that in Rome II, you should be able to fight the rioting peasant/people, rather than leave the riot to chance and the computer. Your units should be able to actually fight the peasants. In fact, it might be quite nice. This way, you also will not loose a city just because couple of people want maple syrup in their tea....

might work, it would be good if they put in a optional automatic autoresolve in the options.

Yup, just that it's so annoying. You got the real elite army protecting your Capital, and all my other units had at least one silver chevron. All of them lost quite a few men, and I can't really afford to retrain them as I'm in a war with the rebels and the Britons. I lost Africa to riots, and Germania to the britons. Very annoying

Very cool. And because cities now have capture points rather than centers, this can work, you can start out with perhaps only the center point and have to capture all the other ones guarded by peasant rioters.

That would be interesting, as long as it wasn't too common. I'd like to see the revolts more dynamic just in general. So you have stage 1, just a revolt with citizens and you can try to hold the city or evacuate your forces and let them have it. After 1-2 turns those citizens will turn into some kind of regional troop, but highly untrained. After 4-8 turns if you still don't take the city back then if there is an emergent faction, or a faction you destroyed prior then they will rise in that area.

ok, i'll fight you (as a dropin battle), me with a plethora angry citisens armed with fire-brands, rocks, axes and spears, and you with your single unit of experienced legionaries ... lets see who wins!

I'll rain rocks and spears on you from the roof tops
I'll set your unit a fire with a phalanx of fire brands
I'll hack, what's left of your unit, with axes into dog meat!

in reality, most citizens wouldn't fight because of a concern for thier families but an angry mob is hard to quell!

Should have an option to manually execute Marshall law or let the computer resolve it.

I find riots in Total War to be a chore in general and a chore to take care of in every Total War. The system needs to be re-vamped. How about two types of riots? Both types appear to be similar, but one is generally harmless and is only a few peasants that can be put down with relative ease if there are any military forces nearby. The other is the kind that starts out as a simple riot but perhaps in a turn it escalates into a much larger problem because there are people who being to stand behind the riot (local politicians or leaders) and they field a much more dangerous and larger force. Riots should almost never escalate to a level of massive armed violence, and there should be an option to negotiate with rioting factions (specifically the ones lead by true "leaders") so address the concerns of the people, namely those in charge, and perhaps stage some sort of act that shows your nation is in charge, but in reality you made a deal and it was much less bad for you than it could have been. Most importantly rioting factions troops should be strictly limited so we don't get random five star ten million cheveron golden sniper elite stacks running around out of nowhere. Their soldiers should be in nearly every case terrible at fighting but their presence will cause attrition and economic damage mainly. If a riot is left to do its thing for many years, then it can start to field proper troops, or when the riot is political and major leaders step up or cause the riot (and Roman military troops should never be fielded unless a Roman military leader defects and takes the army with him).
    War is peace.

You should only be alerted to riots happening in any given location of your faction if you have a governor or some other agent in place to see it and send you word. Unless of course your faction leader or princes witness it first hand.

You could have a very hard setting in which you could only be notified if a messenger successfully delivered the news by traveling to your faction leader or heirs.

Could be cool to be given the option to fight the rioters or to retreat. Auto-resolve the fight or fight the battle. Would be cool.

Also your First Cohort unit isnt a complete legion. Its just a single Cohort.

That would be neat seeing your garrison fighting, say peasants but better than the crappy 1 attack 1 defense peasants.

ive always wanted to fight the rioting people in the city not let them have a stack army somewhere in the province. i think it would be awesome if this would be implemented in Rome 2
