Default Something tells me this wasn't a decisive victory.

I wouldn't even call this a close victory. Once the battle was over, I only had 3 regiments on men on the battle field.

Those Ronin had problems fighting Ashigaru Archers.

Does anyone else find ronin obsolete? I know that they're not as good as samurai. Their quality is more like a Sword Ashigaru, even a Yari Ashigaru.

How the hell did you get that much Ronin?

Yeah, Ronin are supposed to be super tank mercenaries but I found them being broken by cavalry, and struggling with Yari Ashigaru and Samurai.

At that time, I was using Warrior monks, but that was an older army that I put on the boundary of my empire, Recruited before I could recruit warrior monks.

Uesegi and Ikko warrior monks are better than samurai, so I just use those, and they have a bonus to cavalry, decent charge, and good defence.

I was too busy fighting the Takeda, all my armys were up there. They had a few full-stacks of light cavalry.

Oh well, warrior monks took care of them.

Why are you using Ronin? You're playing Ikko, you should beeline for Monks. They are way better!

EDIT: Oh I just read your second post. And also, yeah I don't quite understand the logic in the way the game determines victories.

Yep this happens all the time.

    Me: Deployed: 2582 Killed: 3871 Lost: 721
    AI: Deployed: 3878 Killed: 720 Lost: 3878

And what do I get? A "Close Victory", it's not too big a deal but it is a little annoying

I think sword ashigarus would've been more effective.

The hilarious thing is, I think the archers did better than the sword ronin when it came to melee.

Yeah the type of victory is kinda screwed up. Although I do think its a little better than in Rome and Med 2 where Heroic Victories were handed like cookies.

Naval battles are especially bad. 2 med bunes, 2 bow kobayas and 5 trading ships vs 8 bow kobayas (with flame arrows, AI). Doubling the size of your navy while not losing a single ship sure is a pyrrhic victory:

I've seen lots of comments floating around about the bang for buck value of Ronin units, but I never recruited them since I found that the IKIK Ashigaru were good enough until you can recruit Monks, and even then, very useful as a meat shield.

The Ronin bow are quite good because unlike bow monks, they have armour.
