If u have win 7 or vista, then try deleting the Third age 3 folder in your virtual store, If you dont know where to find it here it is:
    C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods.

Well, if u have win 7 or vista, then perhapse the folder AppData is hidden. Go to Start, type in Folder options, select Folder options from the list, select View, and check if the box that says Hide protected operating system files is marked, if it is, then unmark it, u will be asked if u want to do that, click to accept, Apply and OK. Then try to find the virtual store again in C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods.

If u have windows 7 or vista, go to your desktop, go to START on bottom left of your desktop, in an area SEARCH programs and files type in Folder Options, u will get a list of folders and some other stuff, u select Folder Options, and when it opens up, at the top of new window there is a VIEW field, click on it, and now u get another list, find this `Hide protected operating system files( Recommended)`, that must not be MARKED, so unmark it, u will be asked if u accept this change, accept it, then click on Apply and OK. Then go to MY Computer, and find the folder Third_Age_3 in C:\Users\[User name, or the name of your computer, INTEL, AMD..]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods. And delete that Third_Age_3 folder.

Being kicked back to the menu usually means some files are either missing or have been edited.

What version do you have, Steam, retail disc, or some other version? Have you edited any files or installed any submods? If deleting the Third Age folder (if there is one) in the virtual store doesn't work. It will probably be best to reinstall. So, uninstall everything and reinstall. If you're running windows 7 or Vista disable UAC first. (see here)

If it doesn`t work, u should give some informations what is wrong, like, u can`t even start the TATW when clickin on desktop shortcut, what windows do u have, is your Medieval 2 TW a steam or non steam version, u can`t start a campaign and it brings u back to main game menu, or if u start a campaign or custom battle- then the game crashes to desktop( CTD) and informations like that. StealthFox, perhapse this should be made sticky to give these basic infos for reporting a BUG or asking for HELP.
