Default An idea for Battle Realism mode

I love Battle Realism mode, apart from one thing: you can't issue commands when paused. I can sort of understand where they're coming from, but how about a compromise? Allow us to pause in Realism mode, but only for a short while - or maybe allocate a certain amount of 'freeze time' that is used up whenever pausing in battle - and when it's gone, it's all gone.

    Thoughts?

    Ah.

Help me out here, someone?? I'm sure such an idea could be implemented while still acommodating toilet breaks...

Perhaps it would need a 'toilet break' button - whereby the game pauses - you can't give orders while paused, but 'pause time' doesn't deplete either? I don't know - summat like that. Yep, that's it: two types of pause: pressing P pauses the game fully, without depleting 'pause time', so you can go for a P and pressing the Spacebar allows orders while paused - but depletes pause time.

Its a good idea. As you get more experienced with the feature you would know whether you have the time to play a battle. Or you have to lay the Smackdown on the toilet.

Sorry to say it, but that idea is rather stupid. As already pointed out, sometimes you are forced to pause the game, if either nature or the world around you is calling. I cant really seem the reason to change the original concept of blocking order, as in my opinion it worked flawlessly. Why should all users be limited in that way, by putting a timer in pause mode? If you want that, take time yourself, all those small "houserule" settings, should not be scripted into the game, but rather be up to the individual user to decide whether to use or not.

Isn't it slightly better than not being able to issue orders while paused in Realism mode? That's the problem - you can't 'take time yourself' right now, because Realism doesn't allow any orders at all while paused.

i think the answer to this problem is to keep the realism mode exactly the same, but slow down the pacing of the game in general. since the morale of troops was so fragile in shogun 2 if you didnt react immediately to any given situations it would mean devastation on your part. so higher morale, coupled with the larger scale of units as hinted by ca (hopefully historically sized cohorts ) would solve the issue in my opinion.

I'm not really keen on the idea, because if something pops up, I just want to pause the battle and resume when I'm back......

But if it realism mode, why then allow orders while pausing at all? I've never heard of a general able to stop time, and give out orders. Besides, I can only speak for myself here, but I rarely stops time, and when I do, I spend less than 10 seconds to give out orders, so if that cap should work as intented, then it should be less than 5 seconds, by which time, it would only be an annoyance, and everyone would stop using it.

Honestly, I dont really see the point in this. You're trying to fix something that aint broken, and what you want, is in a way already in the game. Just tell yourself that you may not pause for longer periods than 10-15 seconds, there you go

If there was to be a real realism mode, I think that alle time options except real time should be disabled, not pausing, no speeding up, just real time. And then huge battles should last for hours, but once again, wouldn't work practically.
