Possible Upgrades
Hey guys, I'm thinking of upgrading my PC from:
- AMD Sempron 2800XP+ 2.00GHz
- Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256 GDDR1 (This the the biggest failing of my system)
- K7 Upgrade Board (cant remember the manufacturer for the life of me lol)
To
- Asus A8N-VM CSM Socket 939
- Sapphire Radeon X850 XT 256M GDDR3 PCI-E
- AMD (Venice) Athlon 64 3500+ 939pin 512Kb L2 Cache
How does that look to you all? It's going to cost 257.44 GBP, which in my eyes isnt too bad. I'm just gonna use the RAM I currently have by the way.
As a curiosity, does anyone who may happen to have a similar setup happen to know how Oblivion runs with it? At the moment I can just about play it, but it looks terrible

Re: Possible Upgrades
You go for an AMD processor... That's good, in my opinion. However, I prefer nVidia GCarrds over Radion ones. And how much RAM do you have?
Oh, and I have
AMD Athlon 2800+
nVidia GeForce 6600 GT
500 GB RAM
and Oblivion runs smoothly and looks great.

Re: Possible Upgrades
I have 2 gig ram, but really that isnt used fully very often. anything over 2 right now is honsetly a waste of money. hardly any software uses more than 1.5 gig, and games NEVER need to allocate more than 2 gig can dish out.

Re: Possible Upgrades
Don't get the X850XT, its outdated. Get one of the nVIDIA's new 7xxx series cards or ATI's new 1x00 series cards. And if you are not sure of what to get read the stickies.
