heir rules

i know that it is not important ,since the player can choose the faction heir, but, personally i prefer not to intervene in my family affairs (i dont want to be indiscreet)
so i wonder if does anyone knows who is gonna be the next faction heir if the leader or the previous heir dies?
would he be the leaders son, the heirs son, the leaders brother...
finally do the husbands of my family trees women have any hope to be the next kings?
please answer!

The family member with the highest influence will be auto-designated as the new heir when the old leader dies. You can see all family members and therefore potential heirs in the family tree.
