One thing I'd like to see is an accurate representation of the roman political system.
Despite what many think (probably due to modern U.S. naming conventions for political bodies), the Senate was not the governing body in Roman Politics. The power was split between the Consuls, who were elected, and the legislative bodies known as the Comitia Curia, the Comitia Tributa, and Comitia Centuriata. The senate was a noble council, and an advisory body to the Consulships. They could not pass laws, and had no official power. However, due to a) the economic wealth of the senators, b) the patronus-cliens system that roman culture was marinated in, and c) the senatorial classes willingness to assassinate and cheat, in practice no decisions could be made without the senate's approval, and practically all political entities, from Consuls to Aediles to Tribunes, had to come from the senatorial class. The senatorial class was also the richest, and therefore the ones who's votes counted the most in the comitias.
obviously I don't want an exact replica of the roman political system, it makes my head spin, but at least not fall into the trap of making the roman senate the legislative body that decides legislative matters, they are an advisory body.
