Saints and Heroes pack available soon for Shogun 2

Hi all,

Some cool news: we're releasing a new elite unit pack in the coming days for Total War: Shogun 2.

The Saints and Heroes pack will bring nine new legendary warrior units to the battlefield - the masters of their combat disciplines, standing head-and-shoulders above their rank-and-file brothers.

Some of the units include:

• Tadakatsu's Tetsubo Warriors - batter the enemy into submission with war-clubs
• The Spears of Shizugatake - flank and strike with these spear-wielding cavalrymen
• Hanzo's Shadows - an elite ninja unit, unparalleled in the use of stealth and trained to scale castle walls at lightning speed

All nine units will be available for both single player and multiplayer game modes.

Keep your eyes peeled for it in the coming week.

This is awesome. I have one slight earth-shattering fear: with the concept being legendary warriors, what would kill it for me if the pack used generic samurai parts. I figure you'll make good use of the awesome modelling already done after Tadakatsu's kabuto/maedate rig, but..

I echo Anton's concerns. Here's to hoping for some completely new models. Means even more to draw from for modding!

It's nice to see CA is still supporting Shogun 2, and Napoleon and you guys have proved that to you fans recently, although I'm not sure if the price will be good if it's 9 units. I can see SEGA trying to make you lot overcharge.

Sounds great! :-) I always like having new units to toy around with. Will this be an add-on for Fall of The Samurai or for regular Shogun 2? In multiplayer which of these units will be hero like veterans that you can only bring once to the battlefield and which will be regular units that you can bring more than once?

And if i can squeeze more information out of you will the Tetsubo Warriors be like the Tetsubo Warrior Monk Hero already available or, as i suspect, will it be a slightly less powerful but larger unit sized version of it? How would you rate the Spears of Shizugatake in comparison to the other spear wielding cavalry units? The new Ninja units are what i think i will enjoy the most . The current ninja units are not really powerful enough to be very effective online. I'm hoping you have made a new and much more powerful ninja unit that could actually become useful in competitive battles.

The spears of Shizugatake, Honda Tadakatsu (incidently one of those spears) and Hattori Hanzo were sengoku folk, so, unless there is some freaky justification, it'll be for the original campaign .

No Honda in it. Honda Tadakatsu was a retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu, so at the time of Shizugatake he would never have fought for Hashiba Hideyoshi.

About the DLC : I play most of the time SP. Hero-units are to few and most of the time too late in the campaign to weigh in it. I'll first see what's about them before purchasing this DLC.

I'm slightly aware of them . I was thinking of the tonbogiri and the tokugawa-shitenno.

I hope there was modelling work done with these. There is nothing more upsetting than seeing the Shizugatake spears represented with the most generic of unit parts that we have seen to death. At the very least, CA have already done the modelling work for a kabuto for Kato Kiyomasa and Kato Yoshiaki. Though, I wouldn't mind Yoshiaki's 'feather kabuto' (cursed anti-hotlinking; in any case, seach "加藤嘉明" in google images and look for a feather helmet).
