Default Legionaries without armour - Unit in R2TW?

Caesar, Tacitus and Dio all refer to situations where, wanting to increase speed and maneuverability, a Roman commander would equip his legionaries with gladius, helmet and scutum but no body armour. This might be an interesting unit to increase unit diversity and gameplay choices for the late Roman faction in R2TW - soldiers with the offensive strength of heavy infantry, but the speed (and defence!) of light infantry. A few units equipped like this, for example, might be useful in a siege battle when you want to bring up support quickly to a threatened spot, but perhaps you wouldn't rely on them for the bulk of the fighting!

I doubt I'd ever use a unit that really had no armor just to move a tad quicker.

I think every western army that has ever fought in a desert has done a similar thing, even the british soldiers in afghan sometimes leave their body armour behind when they go on deliberate ops because it means they can move faster and fight for longer with getting dehydrated/exhausted.

Maybe it could be an pre-battle choice if you are fighting in the desert? Not long before some one comes along with the gamey option of having an ability that reduces armor and increase speed for x amount of seconds... ewwww...

Are these situations actual battles or skirmishes and special operations, in which these units would be the equivalent of todays 'commandos'?
