Sorry if I missed this, but is M2TW going to feature naval battles? The unit description says that they fight "both at sea and land"?
Nah. I remember the MTW1 description of 'genoese sailors' say something similar, and MTW1 didn't have naval battles.Originally Posted by Joar

Cant see him.
Edit: Nvm
I'm a bit troubled by the abundance of full plate. Only the polish horsemen, and the Huscarl are heavy infantry/cavalry without the armor. I am thinking we might see it being used throughout the setting, akin to the locia segmenta issues of RTW.
It's not the accuracy which would bother me, but rather the focus on plate armor in lieu of mail. :original:
yeah - I'm pretty sure that is what is going to happen. Without eras (still ****** about that choice) they would have a hard time keeping era specific armor. Oh well, I guess heavy gothic knights vs early english billmen is what the rest of their fan base want...console kiddies like shiny plate armor for EVERYTHING!

Eh? Warhammers? Can anyone confirm the accuracy of that? And what's with the plate armour? I can't realy beleive that the footsoldiers of venice ran around in full plate, knights maybe...
Nice looking. Can't wait to see them bashing some skulls!![]()
That's a point...without eras, we're constrained to one specific type of armour, which could at times prove anachronistic!

these look like late era somewhat elite troops, they don't look unaccurate (except that the hammers look really large to carry around with 1 hand), if they put in high building requirements so that they can't be built until the 15th century and take 2 turns they will probably be realistic.
Well, these are the previews that are being used to sell the game. They are naturally going to show the cooler units, and cool units are usually elite and well armored. The casual fan won't get pumped up about the game when you show him a spearman in rusty mail or peasant in ragged clothes. I still think plate will be fairly rare in the early parts of the game.I'm a bit troubled by the abundance of full plate. That looks absolutely the best unit presented so far...
Looking nasty. I wouldn't want to get a hit from that thing.
OMG what a unit, i like zweihanders better but this one comes close.
Nothing better then a group of plate armoured huge men with huge weapons under your command, unstoppable!!
Got that right, I'm a big fan of heavily armoured soldiers.Originally Posted by berzerkerman

You mean where you have 2-3 types of melee units that after you advance a whole age you get to upgrade into a unit of that era?Originally Posted by RazorOutlaw

Venice is going to be the first faction I play. I love the more obscure factions.
Venice is probably the least obscure, it was the biggest merchant power in all of europe and practically every nation had dealings with them.Originally Posted by Ferrets54
Its certainly the most well known of the medieval italian states as well.
