    Default The Iberian factions

It is one of my worries in this game... how CA will represent the iberian factions??? I hope they´ll do at least an historical research, not as deep as with romans, but at least decent.

I think this time should there be at least 3 major factions: Iberians, Celtiberians and Lusitanians.

    What do you think?

What i`ve seen in the last pics of the siege of Carthage, the iberian mercs fighting for the Carthaginians looks very accurate...however i think CA only will make a single iberian faction...I pray all nights they dont include the horned Bull warriors!!!
My vote is for a celtiberian faction or the lusitani...

P.D.: sorry for my bad english

I like your faction list for the Iberians.

how CA will represent the iberian factions???
I mean that there is a problem since they have many tribes or ?

If that is the case then we can all wonder how will they represent the other barbarian factions that have many tribes in it ?

Yes, there were a lot of tribes... But they owned to a common culture.

In this case the major ones in peninsula were the Iberians (all tribes from south to all east), Celtiberians (central tribes) and finally the Lusitanians (the tribes on the west).

I think that they should be at least the only native factions in Hispania (I understand it's hard to add more)... It would be interesting how they could play their role in roman-carthaginian wars since there are more than 1 faction in iberian peninsula....

I don't know why but I believe CA will do something like this... I hope I'm not wrong...

Some Canary Islands missing there like in the weather forecast. Never mind we are used to it.

    Great pictures anyway. Saludos.

Another thing. Do you think that Sagunto should be present in the game?

    This one

    http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagunto

So it adds a greek flavor to the Iberian Punic taste of the first version.

    Also Emporion. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ampurias

Considering its role in the Second Punic war it would indeed be interesting to see Sagunt as an own faction in Rome II. However it should only be a minor faction which doesn't take over the whole Iberian peninsula
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."

It should be a minor faction but very powerful.

I think they will do it.

One thing though. i would like that if you play as one tribe an you conquer other Iberian tribes that you can then make a kingdom of Iberia or something similar ?

Easy, divide the Peninsula into 2 parts. The southern / eastern strip going from Cadiz all the way up north to southern France for the Iberian Culture tribes and then the rest.

This strip of territory will present a clear Greek/Punic influence and in contrast as you move into the interior of the peninsula this sphere of influence gradually reduces.

If they're going to start pre 2nd Punic War then i'd figure the Celtiberi, Lusitania and the Gallaecci would need to be in there. The Celtiberians because the siege of Numancia is an important moment in the roman campaign, Lusitania because of the importance of Viriato and the defeats he inflicted upon the romans, and the last tribe for similar reasons.

I am well aware that it took 200 years for the Romans to conquer the Iberian Peninsula

It´s clear CA is not gonna put all tribes... but I would like to play as one of the northern tribes also, the Astures for example, they caused many headaches to roman authorities xD

I only hope they do the game capable to be modified as much as possible!!!

Perhaps not all of the tribes, but certainly each province will have its own tribe/iberian faction? Since Empire there have been no generic rebels and they've been leaning towards more historical starting positions so I have high hopes for Rome 2 in this regard..

About Greek presence maybe it is too much to make each city an independent faction. But maybe gathering them with Massalia in a faction called Western Greeks. Massalia was also alllied of Rome. Marsella pa entendernos.

Basically the Iberian peninsular was the hardest to conquer.

I hope the units will be a good mix of Celtic and Iberian influences.
