Splash Screen Rant: "Dear Creative Assembly..."
I bought Shogun 2 as a gift to myself for Christmas last year. It's been very apparent that this game has frustrated me more than entertained me. For a time, it worked perfectly. It was a great game.
Following the May 2012 update, I wasn't able to play anymore; the dreaded Splash Screen crash. I've sat staring at the splash screen for 4 hours at a time, wondering what the hell I purchased last Christmas. I've tried EVERY concievable and mentioned method of getting it working. It's not that it hasn't worked before; it's that they made an update for a functioning game so it won't. Shogun 2 is sitting on my computer, just teasing me. Every time I look at it, I know I could be playing right now. I've told my story a billion times before, but obviously, Creative Assembly shows no intention on fixing their mistakes and it's up to a point where no one could help me. Help.
It's 20-goddamn-12, and they don't know how to get a good game running. Pretty backwards-ass. It sickens me, it really does. I've seriously thought about tearing my eyes out over this game. I wish I was joking. Instead, I punched out a wall for a half hour. No, I have no prior anger problems. That's how far I've been driven down. I've never had a video game drive me to near-insanity and tears.
{[[Anyone who happens to be reading this in the future; please buy Fall of the Samurai. Orignal Shogun 2 chooses who it wants to work for.]]}
In conclusion, I've included my DxDiag, but I really don't believe there is a solution. I shouldn't have to rewire and reprogram my entire computer to get this single game running. It's just not fair. Not for a computer game. It's should be a little flaw, but the corrupt company of modern day refuses to help the consumer. There are just no good people out there. I've even taken the time to make a title for this rant; a testament to simple pleasures turning into wretching anger. Goodbye.

Post the gfx.log.txt and awesomuim.log. They will tell the story.

You're truly witnessing the "Fall of a Samurai".
I've included the awesomium file, but "gfx.log" seems to be missing from the TheCreativeAssembly/Shogun2/logs folder. (Apparently, that's a good thing?)
If it's of any interest, there are 5 or 6 MDMP files with the name of something along the lines of "Shogun 2 crash" with dates, all within the name of the files. Also, when trying to run the Shogun2 Benchmark tests, they seem to get past the splash screen, only to freeze at 3/4 of the loading screen bar.
The following is the awesomium file, unedited and copynpaste'd from Notepad:

Do you have or ever had Google Chrome installed?
Check your permissions through the antivirus, firewall, and/or router. Awesomium log is not even making it to Steam.

I have had Google Chrome installed once, but I've since uninstalled it. I use Internet Explorer 9.
The picture attached is a snapshot of "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security". I've uninstalled AVG Anti-Virus. The game freezes on the splash screen.

Have you checked the router permissions if using one?
