Default Removal of Rome as a faction?

I'd suggest to CA that, in all honesty, the best thing they could do for the game would be to remove the Romans/SPQR/etc as a playable faction in the campaign.

Before everyone heckles me, I'd like to think that this would add some diversity to the game, forcing the infamous Roman fanboys to play as someone else and perhaps expand their proverbial horizons.

Indeed, as AJP Taylor famously stated:

The Romans were well soft, they don't belong in any video games
So, I would formally propose to CA to remove the Romans as a faction except perhaps in Custom Battle; the Grand Campaign should have a passive, non-aggressive (tautology woot) faction that won't try to expand.

I honestly think the resources freed up by abandoning Rome would be much more useful if they were reallocated to much more important factions, such as the Medians, or Bartix.

I honestly think this is the logical next step for Rome 2: Total War.

    Does anyone else agree?

    Thanks for listening.

No, the idea is dumb as hell, no offense to the OP.

Not to be rude, but this is a joke thread, right? If not, you need to reevaluate your understanding of the term "logical," because your suggestion and this topic is anything but.

Rome 2 without Rome... That's sad.

And forcing people to play other factions is not what ca has in mind. I don't want that, and I've already been forced to do other things.

This is a game, and Rome should be looked at just as much as all the other facitons, otherwise, its stupid to make such a game.

People want to creaqte huge wars with rome, and others, want to recreate there own history with rome.

Plus Rome is probably the most played faction, so if you kill that off, many people will be mad and not buy it.

Why, come up the idea anyways? You know most people don't agree and ca is not going to get rid of rome...

Excluding by far the most interesting faction of the ROMAN period.

I may be one of the ones to dislike Rome, but I really do not support this idea. It does not need to be explained why. Plus this does not allow me to take satisfaction in destroying Rome. A passive Rome is not a true Rome.

@Andy mc: Rome being the most interesting faction is debatable, or rather, a matter of opinion. I think there are much more interesting factions out there, for example.

Noooo, that's not a very efficient way to annoy people. You should allow people to play Rome but rig it in such a way that they always lose if they do. Of course, if the player is not Rome, to add insult to injury, Rome should always win.

It would make a nice paradox out of the phrase "I want to play Rome too!"

    Ok, this thread is closed.

Why? In all honesty, do you think this thread will last without becoming a flame-thread? Already, this thread is heading that direction, and I'm going to put a stop to it before it happens.
