All I see there is a Roman infantry guy. To the average, normal person, you wouldn't even know there was anything inaccurate - if anything at all.

General world ignorance is not an excuse for historical inaccuracy. If anything it calls for correction.

At this point the Roman soldiers were self equipped, so it's accurate to portray them with a variety of gear. Even into the 2nd Century BC, odd bits of fairly antiquated equipment probably would have remained in use.
    When in doubt, attack.

And you just made me realize that the two soldiers depicted are in fact using different helmets.

You know in hindsight, it surprises me sometimes that Rome did so well for so long considering - until the Reforms - the Roman army was basically a glorified militia.

What is wrong with a militia? They were well trained and well equipped. Even after the reforms, most soldiers were equipped and trained in the same fashion.

Machiavelli advocated the state militia since they didn't fight for money.

At least before the Marian reforms, the army was more flexible with a variety of different unit types - in contrast to the reformed army which focused mainly on heavy infantry.

Not saying anything is wrong with it, but when I (at least) think of militia I think of just a step above untrained peasants. Then I kind of realize the entire Roman 'army' consisted of trained militia for centuries before they got the idea of a professional, standing army.

Isn't the game pre-alpha? Plenty of time to fix any minor mistakes such as this.

Maybe it is nitpicking but who cares, we are somewhat starved for information this early on, in most cases this is called making conversation...
