How do I play a mod?

Hey I recently got this game off steam and I downloaded the Westeros Total War mod. I installed it correctly (steam/steamapps/common/medievaltotalwarii/mods) and I have the icon on my desktop but I don't know how to actually get it to start playing the mod. When I open up the icon it takes me to the window that says 'Settings' and 'Play' on the bottom and when I hit play, I get the options to play Medieval Total War II and then the four expansion versions that came with Kingdoms. I don't see Westeros on there. So every time I boot up the game it just loads the original version.

Not sure if I just didn't install it to the right folder (which I don't believe is the case since the other expansion pack folders are in there too) or if I am supposed to do something else. I've looked all over and no one has had this problem before so I'll probably end up feeling really stupid when it gets figured out.

That is for working Stainless Steel with Steam. But the guide should work for Westeros TW as well.
