    Default CtD in Battle

    Good Evening,

    I just experienced a strange CtD while playing SS 6.4.
    A battle between Denmark and The Holy Empire, while I am (as England) a reinforcement on the Empires side.
    Now, when I click "Start", I get the CtD, although the first time it was after, like 20 seconds, while the second and third time it was after about 2-5 seconds.

    I had a look at the system.log and it seems like there is maybe a BattleAI error?

    If there is no solution, I could just let the AI calculate the battle, but I really would like to watch the AI fight itself. So my campaign shouldn't be damaged.

    I've got the internal version of GothicTotalWar, but it is placed in its own subfolder, so it shouldn't cause any problems...

    But what is this with:

    Error in battle script command 'define_unit_group': invalid unit label 'unit76'.

    Because the other errors in the system.log don't cause the CtD...

    Blackprinz,

    I would recommend you install G5 BAI, you will find it in Sub Mods Forum for SS. Carefully follow installation instructions, you will need to run SS Set Up again, there is Battle CTD Fix, which should allow you to play the battle

    I can't find G5 BAI.
    Do you mean BGR-V 120713. Byg's Grim Reality or ReallyBadAI Battle System +Hardcore + Settlements v5.6 ?
    Or another submod?

    I tried to install the BattleAI by Germanicus, but it didn't help.
    When i tried to apply the CTD fix, it just says it found and error because it couldn't find the "sign". (Shaped like a corner.)

    I still get the CtD in this battle... any other suggestions?

    If you are using WIN7 is your UAC disabled and when you run Set Up, Right Click and Run as Admin

    I would suggest you to uninstall the other unofficial Mod that you have. It doesnt matter if you have it in another subfolder since the two mods draw on the game archives from the same game's folder. The two mods wouldnt be in conflict together only if you had 2 local disks and you had installed the game...to the different local disks and use each mod for one of them.

    So uninstall the Mod... ''Gothic Total War'' and I m pretty sure that the SS mod will not CTD again....

    Uninstall and runnning the setup as admin still didn't work...
    Has no one an idea what "define_unit_group': invalid unit label 'unit76" could refer to?

    At what turn does this happen?
    Is this your first campaign?
    Do Knights Hospitaller play any part in your army?

    It was turn 54 and my second campaign, the first I'd played with sicily.

    Btw: I continued this campaign and there was another battle between the AI and me as reinforcement, this time attacking German army, me on its side, and the defending French army.
    It worked without any problems...
    So maybe there is an AI problem with the danish faction or some special units?

    The thing is there is nothing special about those Danish stacks. We have encountered CTD with re-inforcements armies, the Battle CTD fix sorts generally. I had a bloody nightmare one, when playing as CS against a Jihad against Jerusalem, had to auto resolve and lose. The K-Shah had me besieged with a Seljuk ally.

    Please confirm do you have any Hospitallers in your army or the HRE stack?

    No, there are no crusade-units involved in the battle.
    I'll have a look what kind of units I had. There were some mercenaries, but only "british" ones.

    In my army was one unit of Galloglaich and two units of spear militia.

    Why would you recommend installing G5 RBAI when the latest version 5.6 has the reinforcement bug, IMO a game breaker

    Yes, and that's exactly the reason for the CtD.
    I'm having this issue quite a few times by now. Anyone an idea how to solve it?
