Default Viewing cities on the battle map

In RTW you could view your cities on the battlemap- I always thought this was an interesting (if somewhat lacking in detail) feature. I'd personally like to see CA bring this back, and was wondering if others though so as well. If they do I hope they could add some improvements, for instance: if the city is rioting I want to see the citizens clashing with the guards, if the city has the plague, the citizens should be dropping dead in the streets. Little details like this would add a whole new level of depth and interest in the game in my opinion.

Those are some interesting ideas although I think it is necessary to at least have the ability to view cites on battle maps, it would be a waste not too, considering all the work thats going into recreating some of the landmark cities. On a sidenote: I wonder if they will portray Rome like in 240 b.c. or if they portray incorrectly like in Trajans Reign. There a difference between the 2 you know.

I miss seeing cities on the campaign map without having to besiege them.
Just watching the everyday lives of my 'subjects' would be fascinating.

Just makes me think.. I can't wait for the new Chivalry Total War mod for Rome II and being able to see the likes of Konstantinople, Thessalonika, Palermo, Cordorba, Cairo, Bagdhad, Damascus, Jerusalem or Alexandria in all their glory!!!

I like your idea I hope CA has something similar in mind.

Yes, this added so much immersion so you wanted to conquer everything just so you could look at each city.

What would also be cool if every city is unique. It would give the game tons of replayability and feel.

    Very good idea.

I would just like to add something to that.

So when the situation is normal(no plague or rioting)in Rome people would just walk around the city doing nothing important and eventhough they were there the atmosphere was kinda empty.

(if anyone has RTW I, they can take a look) If you for example have a blacksmith built in your city and when you enter the city view and zoom into the blacksmith you can actually hear the hammer hitting the anvil and making some weapons or armor, but nobody is actually there.

So what I would suggest, I that they add four things :

    1. Adding guards on the walls, in front of the city gates, in front of the consul's palace(or other building depending on the culture) and finlay adding little squadrons that patrol around the city, so that at the end if you zoom into a mighty city such as Carthage, Rome, Sparta, that you actually see that it is defended, not like a ghost town.

2.They need to add to the buildings some life. So, you can see priests in the temples, you can see traders at the market, you can see soldiers training at the barracks, you can see archers practising at the archery range, you can see blacksmiths making weapons, armor, etc., you can see farmers farming outside the city walls in the field.

3.Make people do they everyday objects, go to the market, go to the temples, not just walking around the city like robots.

4.Add a difference between the classes, for example the helots and the normal citizens in the street, nothing special, just make them look poorer or richer.

I am optimistic about everything, especially since what I saw from artwork and all the game details, archers in the tower, grafiti, naval attacks so I am pretty sure that details as plague and whole atmosphere will be included as well

My only fear is battle and retraining how that will be solved and implemented

Something I also think they could implement, now that you can actually enter buildings, is the people going in and out of the buildings, not just walking around aimlessly

There are good ideas, i would personally like to see things relative to the campaign map, say if it is besieged you can see armies camped out side and you can see soldiers rushing around and militia units being rapidly trained and after a few turn you see a few bodies due to starvation, or if there was a eruption you could see people running and lava streaming down the streets and building burning.

Yes! So I can make a real city and watch games and build temples, maybe when the town is unhappy you can see people running amock and rioting and all that.

exactly I'd like to see the roman guards oppressing the locals, or the mob breaking into the consuls palace etc

If a town is rioting you should be able to use the town guards to fight the rioters. It would serve as a kind of mini game, and it would let you use the cities CA is painstackily make (atleast the important ones like rome charthage, etc).
    My mods
-Mod Leader for the Wheel Of Time This is not the beginning, but it is a beginning
-Mod Leader for Shogun 2: Foreign Invasion if you want a mod with alot of units this is for you, not only is there the 40 units CA made theres planned to be atleast 177 NEW units when its done.
-Modder in the World War I and Shogun II project. The only full scale mod for FOTS and it plays nothing like FOTS. FOTS may have Gatling guns, WW1&S2 has tekidanto samurai, SNLF, MGs, kisho snipers, assault infantry(shotguns) just to name a few.

And it will also make the game painstakingly hard.
