Has anyone else noticed this? On campaign start (FOTS in this case), the first battle is by default a drop-in (which can be canceled; defaulting to AI). The thing is, if that first drop-in is canceled in favor of an AI opponent, drop-in opponent is almost never offered again. I thought, it was because the system did not find battles evenly matched. Well, as it turns out, it is not so.
I just fired up a Saga campaign. The first battle (naval), I opted to have a drop-in partner which was promptly found. We fought a good battle; I won, but the last enemy ship escaped. Ok, I attacked the escaped ship; even though the odds were tremendously in my favor, drop-in partner was offered again. Just trying to test the system, I opted for a human opponent. Again, a partner was found promptly (I'm sorry for this poor person for the odds presented). I won. On the next battle (this time land, odds again, tremendously in my favor), a drop-in partner was offered again.
Here's the catch. I reloaded the last naval battle (with the odds in my favor) and opted for an AI opponent instead. On the very next battle (the same land battle mentioned above), no drop-in was offered anymore...
So, the drop-in option seems inconsistent. It is not determined by how even the odds are, but rather by whether you opted out of having a drop-in opponent in the last battle... hmm... Or is it just bugged...
