    Default ELEPHANTS !!!!

    Playing as Parthia,agains the Seleucids,I lost a battle to...26 elephants !!

    I mean,wtf,I destroyed all the seleucid army,with only 26 cataphrat elephants left ,and I attacked them with all my army.I used the flaming arrows to make them go amok,but nothing.They slaughtered my army,with not even one of them dead..

    Is there any fix to this god unit???

    RS 2.6 will make them less supermannish i believe.

    find their entry in the EDU and nerf their stats a bit then, that should tie you over.

    go into the Play_Parthia/data folder and look for the export_descr_units.txt file.

    Look for all the elephant entries....about 2/3 way down the file you'll see these entries:

    indian elephant

    ptolemaic indian elephant

    ptolemaic elephant forest

    elephant cataphract


    I would suggest that you reduce the hitpoints. Look for the line "stat_health" for each of the elephants, e.g.

    stat_health 8, 40
    (except the numbers will be different from that). Reduce the first number (the number of hitpoints) to 1 so the line reads something like:

    stat_health 1, 40
    We're in the process of tweaking these for 2.6

    OK, so try cutting 40 down to 20

    I've heard on the battlemap the game can only read 15. But 40 would be used for autocalc.

    I haven't either! (at work too) so I'm guessing from memory.

    The alternative is to reduce the armour values.

    I think I ran into an elephant with a minigun mounted on it once.

    But seriously, if you try stacking up the archers and shoot the fire arrows at them you should (might?) be able to spook them.

    They are ludicrously overpowered, that's for sure.

    Here is my edited elephants file. Make a backup and copy it in the data folder for Parthia. It changes them back to normal, I got it by windows' previous versions back up from 18 February 2012.

    I broke down and tried it. The only thing I've found that's reasonably successful was using ballista and then hitting them with fire arrows to make the leftovers run amok.
    Well, I ditched my ballista (too slow, especially as Armenia) and switched to javelin groups. I had 24 elephants with only their riders pinned in a Seleucid city. Me 2300 men, him 2100. He kept his elephants to one side of the city, so I move four javelin groups to that side, snuck up and pin-cushioned the : out of them. No kills.

    Meanwhile I have four hoplite units, three archer kataphracts and my mace cav just cleaning the floor. I lost about 300-400 men and just decimated his army. He had two phalanx units and one slinger unit in reserve. Well I came in the back way and took out the slingers. I'm like, "Okay, fine. I'll just go park all of my army in the square and get it over with." Low and behold the elephants finally decide to do something. They destroyed every man jack of my men. I took out one elephant. This was with your file.
    I am so mad right now (not at you, just the situation). I just wasted two hours on this battle and it would have broken the back of Seleucia. I'm so disgusted with RSII right now...

    edit: hmmmm the other elephs in 2.5 recieved all 3 flesh and they are good so I think I will try for those catas... 22, 3, flesh or 24, 3, flesh hmmm 22, 1, flesh.... they are catas still so 26... but no 24... 24, 3, flesha nd see how it goes... 26!? hmmm you try your numbers and communicate the best way!

    Playing with Parthia 24,3, flesh for me... it will take a while to reach ANtioch though... anyway full charging cataphract cavalry should have an effect right!? I mean 4 m kontos lances...


    mmmmm nope carthaginian towered elephants have 25,3, flesh and they are pretty good to me so... 26, 3, flesh for Seleucid cata eleph... well 27, 28... you choose... but more nope... it would be too hard! I will put hmmmmmmm.... 27!? yes 28... 27 that's it!

    Edit: hmmmmmm 28!? anyway instead of 40 it should be ok... 27-28, 3 flesh

    I put 23 to compensate... and we hae 40 compared to 30.... so 23... 22... anyway 27 is too uch compared to other stats... together should form you know... more than tower... hmmm I'll try with 23... 23, 3, flesh
