New map with Vanilla campaign?
Hello,
Is it possible to get the seemingly MUCH improved Map from Rise of the Samurai/Fall of the Samurai in the Vanilla total war game?
Its a shame to have to play with the archaic default one.

Well the map is different so it can't be used. I can recommend this excellent re-texture mod for Vanilla though:

Looks much better I think.

You can construct a fairly simple mod to substitute RotS campaign map elements on the original S2 map.
Have a look here from post #16 onwards: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...rai+map&page=2
You can largely ignore the the part about height maps, since that setup has changed recently (needs investigation). In any case, you can improve the map using this method substantially, especially concerning tree types and density, terrain textures and mountains. You don't get the RotS ocean, but the combination works well. Looks great, despite a couple of very minor points... 1) The underlying "painted" map representing unknown areas is inaccurate where they changed resource type or city location 2) Some of the rainbow/water-spray effects might not be quite lined up (could be a height map issue?). Neither item is particularly distracting given the overall higher quality of the resulting map. Highly recommended
